Yup, some Eastern GM will let them off the hook and probably overpay for him as well. Just the way it seems to always go.

I'd say either move would be surprising, and both together would be mind blowing.
I do think something like that would be a good idea, I just don't think the Wizard can execute that series of moves.

Didn't he trade Glencross for a couple of picks? The flames were in playoff position.

Not at the draft
I'm sure he would trade a player at the draft if it makes something else work though

The thing is, the draft is generally the worst time to trade players. Ideally you trade players for picks at the deadline, when players have the highest market value, and then trade picks for players on draft day, when picks have the highest market value.

If we make a trade with Philly, could we please get them to add Wade Allison? He's injured right now, and has indeed been injury-prone, but he's a big, skilled, physical power-forward that reminds me of a young Boone Jenner (only meaner). I'm a fan of his, and I think Sutter would love him. Right winger, too.

All I know is the team has added value to make a move due to solid drafting.

I'd gladly take Czarnik back. He was a solid Flame and I'm pretty confident he'd be better than Richardson or Ritchie.

If we're going for retreads, let's get ones that we were at least good when they were here. No interest in Czarnik for me.

They may have to sell a good player cheap but they can move contracts.

Czarnik was the classic gapper - not good enough for the top 6, not useful enough for the bottom 6

I'll get roasted for saying this, but part of what makes our team successful is the fact that we are BIG and physical. I don't want us getting smaller, unless it's for somebody upper-echelon like Keller or Giroux. Those qualities help teams win in the playoffs, like it or not.

Tampa Bay's 2020/21 top 9 was basically...
Point 5'10 183
Palat 6'0 194
Gourde 5'9 173
Stamkos 6'1 193
Killorn 6'1 200
Coleman 5'11 205
Johnson 5'8 185
Maroon 6'3 230
Cirelli 6'0 190
Colton, Joseph and Kucherov weren't biggest guys either.
so I'd argue it's more about speed and tenacity. Sure, having guys like Lucic or Gudbranson may help you in a certain type of series but I still think that the Flames need to inject more speed into their lineup in order to succeed.

Ya but his point of replacing one of those guys with Austin Czarnik probably still holds water. Yanni Gourde instead.... Sure, your point stands up.

He has more points than Ritchie so already better, and Czarnik can actually keep up to play

I would rather just give Philips a chance than bring Czarnik back

I've always thought that Tampa is small up front, but huge on the backend.
