LMAO... it was pretty clear to me that the question was basically "what would you have done if you were in his [Harper's] shoes during this crisis". It came across to me fine the first time, and again, I understood it the second time easily. Not sure how Caged Great got so riled up about this.
I call Bull on that, your either a party that wants to run in an election, set and fight based on your own platform and policy, or your a provisional arm of another party.
I think if the Green's start endorsing Liberal votes and they start throwing their chance at winning seats and actually establishing themselves as a political party then they don't deserve a seat at any debate, and they are a a sellout party.
What bull? Besides the former independent who turned Green and Miss May herself, what chance do the Greens have of winning seats? They do not want to be the Canadian equivalent to Ralph Nader of 2000. What has he done since?

Yeah, too many comments saying "loaded question" "unfair" "sleazy journalism" c'mon... how hard was it? Brutal!

I think Rick Mercer should do a bit on this.... go and ask kindergarten kids the same question.
"What would you do if you were the Prime Minister right now?"
This reminds me of just a couple of months ago when he was stumped by the term "carpool".
Wasn't his recent claim of hearing difficulties related to being in crowds? That is why he has difficulty understanding?
This was in a very quiet set, with only ONE voice (unless of course there are many more in his head confusing the issue....) Now THAT would be a story...
#1 - No, his hearing difficulties didn't relate to being in crowds. It had to be with picking up certain sounds which has hampered his english learning. So unless he and his tutor are learning in a crowded bar, I don't think so. And the inability to pick up certain sounds is not helped with a hearing aid. Many people learning english have trouble distinguishing between "b" and "v" such as in "curb" vs "curve".
#2 - I think he understood the question and started off answering it correctly. It was his doubt in his own ability to understand... he is so paranoid that he was going to make a blunder answering the question completely wrong that he made a blunder by asking to restart so many times.
#3 - I have been in that exact situation numerous times... been asked a question in french and I start responding. Just by the puzzled look on the other persons face I get the feeling that I'm not answering what they asked. But often I'm answering their question perfectly - they just don't like my answer.

Great. But should he be the leader of a G7 country with that kind of issue?
I did not see the outtakes, but airing stuff like that is very low.
That's total BS. This is a guy who is running to be the leader of a country with a G7 economy, as well as foreign military commitments. He needs to be on the ball. That was an easy 1-on-1 question and he screwed it up... 3 times! They have to air that, it's what Canadians need to see in order to make up their minds.
Does anyone remember the way Preston Manning was denigrated from top to bottom about his defiency in the French language? What if Stephen Harper flubbed a question in French?
We have to apply these same principles here. Dion is incapable of a well-thought out response in English.
Location: Wondering when # became hashtag and not a number sign.
Exp:
Yeah...im not harshing on him because he has a language barrier, (even though that language is spoken by about 75% of his countrymen!), but there is no way someone with that sort of inability to comprehend and answer a basic question should be leading a country......G7 or otherwise.

Exactly. I don't mind that he personally doesn't speak good English. My French is not great at all. But he's running for a job where people's livelihoods and their lives can run on a single word and he clearly has difficulty comprehending.
It's funny you know. When Joe Clark was leader of the Progressive Conservatives, Harper & the Alliance was telling Joe that he had to stop running people in western ridings. Now Harper is saying that two parties working together to help each other is just plain wrong.
Its funny how you are trying to make apple juice with oranges.
Back in the day, It was suggested that the two parties not run candidates against each other in certain ridings, this is true.
But if you want to avoid looking like a fool in trying to call Harper a hypocrite, then you are going to have to show me a case where Harper went out and endorsed a PC candidate even though both his party and theirs were runnning candidates in the same riding at the same time.
The OP had it right. The Greens are a joke, always have been a joke, and always will be a joke.
