Mama told me when I was young
Come sit beside me, my only son
And listen closely to what I say.
And if you do this
It will help you some sunny day.
Take your time... dont live too fast,
Troubles will come and they will pass.
Go find a woman and youll find love,
And dont forget son,
There is someone up above.
Are we supposed to be bumping with the same theme? I am hooked on Simple Man right now, sorry if it doesn't fit with the "wait" theme.
I'm still two picks away but I'm heading to the hospital, should be there most of the day... I'll try and make my picks tonight if the others get em in.

I was just mowing my lawn (part of it anyway) and listening to music on my iPod and plotting my draft strategy. I'm stuck. I've got like 6 really great choices for songwriter! WTF do I do? I think I might hold out on the category and hope a couple of them get picked by someone else to make my choice easier! The trouble is, using them in alternate categories doesn't help because they are all American and male!
Oh..and....BUMP!
P.S. Why is "Love Me Tomorrow" by Chicago on my iPod?? Innocent mistake while transferring the awesomeness that is "25 or 6 to 4" or subconscious femininty rearing its ugly head?

I'm gonna move U2 From "UK" to "World"......It's only fair, U2 was allowed in the UK category but that was a mistake (IMO).
Now I choose in the category of UK.....The Cult!
The Cult are an English rock band which "gained a dedicated following in their native Britain with mid-'80s singles like "She Sells Sanctuary" before breaking into the American metal market in the late '80s with "Love Removal Machine." The band fuses a "heavy metal revivalist" sound with the "pseudo-mysticism...of the Doors, the guitar-orchestrations of Led Zeppelin, and the three-chord crunch of AC/DC, while adding touches of post-punk goth rock" Since their earliest form in Bradford during 1981, the band has had various line-ups, but the longest serving band members are vocalist Ian Astbury and guitarist Billy Duffy, both of whom are the band's songwriters.
After moving to London, the band released Love, which charted at #4 in the United Kingdom, and which included singles such as "She Sells Sanctuary" and "Rain". In the late 1980s, the band adopted a more hard rock and glam rock-infused sound with Electric, the single Love Removal Machine, and the album Sonic Temple, which enabled them to break into the North American market. By the early 1990s, the band was fraying behind the scenes, due to alcohol abuse and off-stage tensions, leading to a split-up in 1995. Between 1999 and 2002, the band reformed to record the album Beyond Good and Evil, and they reissued all of their albums in Asia and eastern Europe in 2003 and Japan in 2004. In 2006, the band reformed again to perform a series of worldwide tours. In October 2007, the band released the album Born into This, on the Roadrunner Records label.
TURN IT UP AND ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!!

With my 10th round Pick, scwf's Creeping Death, proudly selects in the Female Singer category, the seventh wife of my songwriter pick Steve Earle – Miss Allison Moorer
Quote:
Allison Moorer was born into a musical family and raised in the small southern Alabama town of Frankville; when Moorer's father shot her mother and then turned the gun on himself, older sister Shelby Lynne -- soon to become a country singer herself -- took charge of raising Allison. After attending the University of South Alabama, Moorer moved to Nashville, hoping to get her start as a studio backing vocalist. She struck up a songwriting partnership with musician and future husband Butch Primm, and soon signed a publishing deal. Performances of Walter Hyatt's "Tell Me Baby" at benefit shows for the late singer's family landed Moorer a contract with MCA Nashville. Moorer's big break came when "A Soft Place to Fall," a track she had co-written with Gwil Owen, was tapped for inclusion on the soundtrack of The Horse Whisperer; it garnered rave reviews, as well as an appearance in the film itself for Moorer, and set the stage for the singer's 1998 debut album, Alabama Song. She returned with another solo effort in 2000 with The Hardest Part. Two years later, Moorer had a new deal with Universal South and released a third album, Miss Fortune, later that summer. Show, which was recorded in January 2003 at Nashville's 12th & Porter, appeared in June. Her sister and Kid Rock joined Moorer for this first-time live recording. Not slowing down, Moorer found a new label home with Sugar Hill in early 2004. The Duel, recorded with a new studio band in less than two weeks, was released in April of 2004. Two years later her sixth album, Getting Somewhere, came out, followed by Mockingbird in early 2008.
With my 10th pick in the draft, troutman's K-Tel Sound Explosion selects in the Canada category, from Vancouver, British Columbia, THE NEW PORNOGRAPHERS:
The New Pornographers formed in 1997, almost immediately recorded the classic "Letter From An Occupant," and it was on. Their three full-lengths (as well as Newman's 2004 solo debut The Slow Wonder) received wild critical and public acclaim, and they continue to enjoy bigger (and taller and smarter) audiences.

The Vancouver indie rock supergroup the New Pornographers features the talents of Zumpano's Carl Newman, the Evaporators' John Collins, Destroyer's Dan Bejar, cartoonist/filmmaker Blaine Thurier, drummer Fisher Rose, and guest vocalist Neko Case. Newman began the band in 1996 as a lark after releasing Zumpano's Goin' Through Changes; one by one, the other members joined the fold, and the New Pornographers' first official rehearsal took place in 1997. By the following year, the group had completed four songs, but then Case left Vancouver for Chicago, Thurier began work on his film Low Self Esteem Girl, and the other members attended to their other bands and projects. Rose left in 1999, and Limblifter/Age of Electric drummer Kurt Dahle and guitarist Todd Fancey joined the Canadian supergroup.

Sorry guys, had some family matters to attend to. I'll take The Hives out of Sweden in the Europe category. Not really much depth to their music but they put on a great show which is where their value lies.
There is no Europe category in the music draft.
Moved to WORLD category.
