Arsenal have a great shot but I could see city catching them. You add a defender like guehi in the window and i think you are that much harder to break down. Nevermind semenyo who is absolutely class. They basically added 2 of the best 11 in the prem in my books. Their transfer strategy is spot on too.. you see these teams like Liverpool pass on guebi as too expensive last summer and buy some random teenager from Italy... wtf. Buy proven premier league performers every time if you can afford it
Relegation battle will be good for sure with hammers surging. Id love to see one of the clubs with Disney villain level owners like Newcastle or forest go down

Hey I hope we get a good battle to the finish, but I need to see City show more than just flashes. This isn't the same inevitable team from 17-23, but I will give them credit for fighting back today to keep themselves with a realistic chance at only six points down.

How many players have won the EPL in the Arsenal side? Zero. Pep still has the nucleus of his unbeatable team minus KDB. Donny is better than Ederson and is accomplished in his own right.

Yeah city have been erratic. I have this feeling that it will hinge on Rodri... if he can get anywhere near back to the player he is they are a ways better of a squad than arsenal for me. They still need to execute but I think they'll catch them with Rodri playing at 100%. But he has started 8 matches after missing so much time. Far from a sure thing. Outside of the midfield city are miles better for me

I don't really get how they don't give the 3rd goal there. You give Szobolslai (or however you spell this), the red and the ball rolls in untouched...so how do you not play advantage and give the goal?

This is the kind of outcome that gives a team belief. Expect City to go on a big run after this.
But don't tell me Arsenal 'over-celebrate' after this.

Not to pile on liverpool who had such an admirable run for years, but they are closer to the drop than 1st place now after 1 win from 6. That's wild..
edit and just to be clear not saying they are in relegation fight at all. But if hammers keep winning and grab their next two there could be only 10-12 points from 5th European spot to relegation for the final run in

The assumption I guess is Haaland fouls Szoboszlai so that cancels the goal. Or something like that. Was very confusing for what seemed like a simple enough situation.

Haaland fouled Szoboszlai after Szoboszlai fouled Haaland, so the referee can't allow an advantage to be played. Szoboszlai would have been better off letting Haaland score, as there were only seconds left in the match and now Liverpool have to come up with another makeshift right-back (Endo maybe) when he serves his suspension. Excellent refereeing.

Once Haaland commits a foul, it cancels the advantage and you go back to the initial foul by Szoboszlai. Pretty simple actually.

I know you're joking, but I wouldn't put it past baldy to put another midfielder in right back.

One of their best players died tragically and they sold off half the team. Luis Diaz, Alexander-Arnold, Kelleher, Quansah, Darwin Nunez. Tskimikas and Elliott went out on loan. All of those players were major contributors over the last few seasons.
Sure, they spent a ton of money but only Ekitike and Wirtz have been any good. Isak has barely played. Kerkez has not been as good as advertised. Frimpong and Leoni have been mostly injured. You can't swap out half your team and expect things to keep on ticking.
Salah has been absolutely terrible, father time waits for no man. If they're lucky, Liverpool will get a fee for him to go to the Saudi Pro League in the summer, but just getting his salary off the books would be a huge bonus. He's not anywhere close to being worth his place in the team.

I'm not joking at all, who else can play back there? Gravenberch perhaps? Move Robertson over to the right hand side?

Sure, but Haaland wouldn't have had to foul him if he wasn't fouled in the first place? I don't know...it's irrelevant in the grand scheme of things anyway, but it just didn't make a lot of sense to me.

If I could just see him post that Spurs are going down for sure, I could rest so easily over the coming weeks.

Unless Arsenal blow it that's a macro post that didn't really relate to this match specifically. Still don't think City are a threat until they show they can do this for more than a match or two. Two wins in seven PL games in 2026, and one of those was Wolves. Colour me still unconvinced.

I actually forgot about Bradley's injury. So yeah would be one of those two, but surely not old man Endo lol. Can they recall Tsmikas maybe?

A lot has to come together for city.. rodri back to health, integrate semenyo and guehi. But if those players do keep improving and integrating just an insane upgrade to the starting 11. Ballon d'or winner at 29 and 2 of the prems best 11 over the last year. Arsenal have to be favourites with a 6 point lead but city winning isn't a crazy outcome either. as a neutral you just want to see a race as late as possible so id love to see it tighten and us get some drama

No, they tried to do this so they could sell Robertson to Spurs and it didn’t work out.
