This is where being an NHL fan sucks, the bad get rewarded. The NHL is fantasyland and doesn't apply to real-life.

Problem is they have the media so far up their collectives that they will find a pile of support in the National media to put flowers all over this thing for them. Its disgusting frankly, but its true.

Do we see another article about how disrespectful it is to wear a number that close to 99?

looking forward to see how they try to spin this one though. Justifying a bad trade or contract is one thing, but "everybody deserves a 27th chance" is a far more difficult point to make.

"We're gonna lay all the cards on the table. Kane is a gamble, a roll of the dice. Let me be open ended straight with you, we think he can ante up and take it to the bank"

I'm not. Its going to be gag worthy and the National hockey media in this country will lap it up like fresh milk.

Just from a top 6 gamble, its not a bad one putting aside that Kane is a disruptor who seems to piss off everyone he's played for. Does a guy like that change? Not really since he's literally being rewarded with chance after chance after chance.

Its not going to help the Oilers with their bad forward play without the puck. Its not going to help their bottom 6, its not going to help them with one of the worst Bluelines in the league, its not going to help them with their worst goaltending situation in the league.

Its will likely piss off Tippett if he's told not to lean on their new star. Its likely not going to do much for a room with what I feel is a leadership vacuum.

It is literally going to make it impossible for the Oilers to be buyers at the deadline as I expect that Kane will vacuum up every cent of cap that they have.

I wonder how long it will take Kane to start to hate a boring and grey city like Edmonton. Or the prospect of a probable assigned babysitter.

I'm still kinda hoping that he pulls a Versteeg and signs here last minute just to screw the oil.

#91 is an appropriate number for Kane - It represents his backwards approach to COVID-19

I would want Kane nowhere near the Flames locker room.

How is “if signed” a caveat? Of course it’s “if signed”.

Caveat - must tuck Connor in at night. Standard Oilers clause

But with what cap space?

I guess if your goalie is on LTIR it makes sense to replace them with a forward instead of trying to use that cap space to sign a replacement goalie.

Slightly amused at him being paid “in cash”. Cue obligatory pic.

Yeah the "in cash" thing is a funny part of the tweet. As opposed to what?
Amazon GCs?
Bitcoin?

I thought it was pretty clear: as opposed to cap hit.

not completely unheard of. When Odell Beckham Jr signed with the Rams, he chose to be paid in Bitcoin. Great decision that didn't backfire at all!
