this game is crazy. Should be 4-0 Portugal or something like that. I can see it coming, we 'll somehow win this because of a fluke goal in the 93rd minute by a guy like Prödl.

totally undeserved, but I'll take it. Still alive. Barely, but still.
soooo Iceland ... you're a pretty cool country. Everybody has been rooting for you, and deservedly so. But you'll have to lose on Wednesday, I'm sorry.

Cant wait for Cristiano Whinealdo's post game after this one.
Missed a penalty, probably bitter that he wasnt allowed to be 3 yards offside on that free kick so his goal would be allowed. His teammates must have been poor and the posts werent regulation size and the rules of the sport are unfairly biased against him.

Yes. Should have brought on Cahill to bust the Portugese defense.

That was such a tough game to watch, I know the thought process of bar the door after scoring that PK, so heartbreaking to walk out with a tie being so close to the win.
But THEN Ronaldo, ahhahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.
Sorry I think the bashing for him is well deserved, he constantly complains to refs, is a legendary diver and embellisher.
Our match against Austria to win the group, that would be hilarious to do it.

How does an Iceland win get the group for them? Portugal can beat Hungary and then it's down to differential.

I really hope that France lose today. Maybe the Swiss can come out speaking German and scare them into surrendering.

Final group matches are always played simultaneously to prevent collusion between teams to guarantee mutually beneficial results.

Disgrace of Gijón.
Quote:
The Disgrace of Gijón refers to the 1982 FIFA World Cup football match played between West Germany and Austria at the El Molinón stadium, Gijón, Spain, on 25 June 1982. The match was the last game of the first-round Group 2, with Algeria and Chile having played the day before. With the outcome of that match already decided, a win by one or two goals for West Germany would result in both them and Austria qualifying at the expense of Algeria, who had beaten West Germany in the first game. After 10 minutes, West Germany took the lead. Thereafter, neither team scored, and few scoring chances were created, along with much own-half passing and few tackles: with both sets of players flamboyantly missing with apparently no attempt at accuracy whenever they shot on goal.
As a result of this, and similar events at the previous World Cup in Argentina, FIFA revised the group system for future tournaments, so that the final two games in each group would be played simultaneously.
