Either social media coverage is highlighting a lot of events that wouldn't normally get exposure because nothing really occurred or was contained immediately, or this is an escalation by the terrorists of noteworthy concern.
Or hyper paranoia has taken over and it's like a virus spreading via social media.

The better answer is that when indoctrinated with horrifying ideas, people who might, in a different universe, been perfectly well-adjusted members of a modern global society behave in awful ways.

Actually no, quite the opposite. Psychopaths are often very intelligent. Psychopathy involves most importantly lack of empathy and a conscience. Psychopaths are capable of organizing and the mental illness does not exclude intelligent behavior requiring high levels of cognitive ability. Schizophrenics, dissociative or delusional type people will have more trouble as the cognitive ability is not there.
A psychopath is often smart enough to smile right at you and convince you they're your friend when all they intend is to use you. It's a complex type of mental illness and requires substantial research to fully understand.

Explosion near Stadium in Paris, multiple shootings and hostage taking...
Video of heard gunshots from possibly the police raid and barricaded men: https://twitter.com/myteks/status/666839939112427520
Unconfirmed sources have said that several police offices are wounded.
Several arrests seem to have been made and that the person who planned the November 13th has been the main target. (Abdulhamid Abaaoud)
Edit:
1 confirmed dead. Cannot confirm if it is police officer or terrorist yet.

According to CNN they have targeted the "mastermind" of the attacks. Hopefully the police don't get hurt and they capture him.

Explosion near Stadium in Paris, multiple shootings and hostage taking...
Per Guardian, It is now just after 7.30am in Paris, meaning the siege in St-Denis has been going on for over three hours.
There are reports of one person dead, and three police officers injured, though apparently not seriously.
Several explosions have been heard in the last few minutes.
At least three military trucks are now on the scene in the centre of St-Denis.
Edit:
Three heavy trucks carrying around 100 French troops have arrived in Saint-Denis to secure the perimeter of the operation, as they did outside the Bataclan concert hall on Friday night.
Heavily armed police have taken over the centre of the town.
At least seven explosions have been heard at the scene, but the source of the blasts is unclear.

Sounds like there is 1 person left in an apartment building and they're tying to take him alive.
Two killed (some reports of three), three arrested (some sites now list two). The killed include a civilian caught in the blast of a suicide bomber (I believe female?).
Edit - BBC lists 3 dead:

Yea, I'm seeing conflicting resorts of 3 dead/3 arrested and 2 dead/2 arrested.
Appears a female did detonate some device killing herself.

BBC Reporting unclear if 2 or 3 dead:

It is still not clear whether two or three people have been killed in St Denis. The operation is ongoing and police are continuing to block the streets.
French media reports at least two people have been killed. There are also reports of a woman detonating a suicide belt.
|
an earlier BBC update had 3 dead and also confirms 3 arrests:
Quote:

Police report three gunmen have been killed and there have been reports of a woman detonating a suicide belt. There have been three arrests.

Psychopaths are pretty much the same as everyone else when it comes to IQ, most are average to stupid, they are the car salesman that sold you a lemon or the builder that ripped your elderly mother off, we tend to think they are smart because the smart ones tend to have such a massive impact.

In case it wasn't bleedingly obvious that those Syrian passports found near the attackers were a plant:
http://montreal.ctvnews.ca/police-be...gees-1.2662167
Quote:
Authorities believe the passports are all fake, and were forged either in Syria or Turkey. Officials with the European Union agency Frontex, which is responsible for border controls, say the number of people trafficking in fake Syrian passports is rising.
Meanwhile two other bombing suspects have been identified as carrying false Turkish passports.
Islamic State has frequently said one of its goals is to stop refugees from fleeing Syria by any means possible, and tells refugees they are committing "a major dangerous sin" by attempting to flee the war and entering countries where they will be assimilated or integrated into "Christianity, atheism or liberalism."

I worked for someone I would consider a psychopath. He is extremely intelligent and highly successful. He was ruthless and consistently manipulated people as a means to an end without any thought to the effect of his actions on them.
They come in all shapes and sizes. It may be unsurprising to many of you, but the finance world is riddled with this personality type.
