I wonder if that scares the NHL off. Being the only pro sports team in town is one thing, having to compete with the NFL is another.

the sleaseman errr I mean salesman that was trying to sell me a timeshare at the Grandview Resort told me they were building an NFL stadium across the street where all the teams will take turns playing a regular season game.
You mean to tell me that was a lie?!!?!?!??!?!
On an unrelated note, anyone want to buy a timeshare?

8 games a year if they don't get a playoff berth, and only one day a week. The NBA might be a threat to the NHL but the NFL is not.

10 games at home with pre season. I'm pretty sure that's why he said 10. Don't have to worry about playoff games with the Raiders.

That would actually be a really interesting idea.
They could make Vegas the permanent home of one of their primetime games with two different teams playing each week. A 16 week season with 32 teams would work out perfectly. Each team could give up one home game every other season.
They could sell travel packages to the participating teams' home fans, which would offset the concerns about the Vegas locals not having the interest to support a team of their own.
Also, if the league is concerned about putting a permanent team in Vegas because they're afraid the players could get in trouble (like that doesn't happen everywhere), they'd have some protection because they could control the teams from the moment their plane lands until their plane leaves, and they wouldn't have any players living full time in Vegas during the season.

That would be really interesting from a TV production standpoint too. They could use almost as many cameras they will have at the Superbowl every week. The NFL is become more about the TV experience than live experience. It could also be a bit of a revenue sharing thing, though I don't know if there are enough struggling teams that would benefit more from a Vegas game over their own home game, compared to strong teams that might suffer.

Didn't know they actually played 10, I just knew it wasn't a lot.

Strongly disagree. Live NFL experience is a thing of its own.

I would think if this happens the NHL to Vegas is DOA. All those deposits will flee to NFL ticket deposits instead.

I wouldn't get too excited about this. If the Chargers get their new stadium in San Diego the Raiders will got back to LA faster than Johnny Manziel exiting a rehab facility.

I agree. Much more attractive to spend a weekend in Vegas to see a game than Oakland.

No way. Oakland, Berkeley, San Fran. Great spots! Way more fun than Vegas, unless you like gambling.

There is some really nice areas outside of Oakland for sure but in a weekend trip you aren't going to be able to see all that and Sunday is pretty well consumed by the game itself.

Why would 8 NFL games a year kill the NHL in LV? If that's all it takes to make 41 NHL games unfeasible, then I would suggest that LV was doomed from the start.

Corporate support mostly. Obviously the NHL will be fighting for scraps since everyone will support the big boy first. Plus I think if the NFL goes to Vegas, the NBA is inevitably not too far behind, and the NHL has no chance as the third sporting option in a city that already has tons of entertainment options. Basically if they put a NFL team there, it's a countdown until the NHL moves away if they also put a team there.
