Well this game is broken. On the 360 there are a total of 9 multiplayer servers available to play (no hardcore, all normal).
And people told me EA had changed, they can go f*** a goat corpse. Useless monkeys.
I guess I should have played within the first couple of months when the...oh wait, there were no servers then either.
From what I remember reading recently DICE explained that all of their servers were bought up. Here is the link: http://attackofthefanboy.com/news/ea...rver-shortage/
I don't know if people are simply renting these servers and doing nothing with them or if they have them all set up for 24/7 Metro TDM. I play on PC and while I've noticed a pretty significant decrease in servers there still seems to be enough running HC Rush. EA did a great job of turning their image around only to drive it back into the ground over the past year or 2.
Yea, the custom servers really ruined this game. I don't believe there are ANY DICE servers. At least I can't find any in the server browser.
Now, all the servers seem to have extra tickets. I like playing conquest, and one time got stuck playing on a server with 1000 tickets. It took 70 minutes to play one round. You might say "Well, just join another server". It's tricky to coordinate and get everyone in a party of 6 or 7 into the same game. Can't easily go server hopping.

Some servers my friend played on had a rule where "If you kill the admin, you will get banned". He also played on the ones with huge ticket amounts.

If they want to play 24/7 Metro then they need to buy COD and play it.

100% agree. What I find odd about BF3 is the maps. I really enjoyed all the BC2 maps and it felt as though they were built from the ground up for Rush. BF3 maps.... I don't really know what game type they were designed to facilitate. We need less maps geared toward TDM (looking at this CQ expansion) and more classic style battlefield maps. Probably the best maps in the game came from the Karkland expansion.

Having never played Battlefield before BF3, and therefore have no nostalgia for old maps, I really dislike the Karkand maps. I have played a lot of Conquest on the 360, and there are some great maps, all with a little bit of a difference balance between infantry and vehicles:
For pure a pure infantry grinder, there is Operation Metro
Mostly infantry focused, with the occasional tank, are Seine Crossing and Grand Bazaar
Bringing vehicles a little more into the mix we have Tehran Highway, Damavand Peak, Noshahr Canals.
Finally, in the "you'll get clobbered if you aren't in a tank" category, there is Kharg Island, Caspain Border, Operation Firestorm.
So, the mix is definitely there for Conquest. I hardly play Rush, so I can't comment on how well the maps work for that.

The problem I have with maps like Grand Bazaar, Metro and Seine isn't that they're infantry focused but rather that they confine the battlefield in a frustrating way. There are too many non-destructable elements and teams are forced into narrow streets where they are bombarded with RPGs and M320s preventing advancement. It's not about nostalgia, it's about bad map design (from a Rush perspective).
Bad Company 2 had some really great infantry only maps that featured a lot more destruction. For instance, Cold War. This was a infantry only map and when you played it on Rush you'd get these really intense, close quarters battles that would move from house-to-house. But there was never really a bottle-neck to prevent the attackers from being able to advance. Everything in the map could be reduced to rubble. I played in games where literally every house on the map was destroyed. Man, I miss the sound of a building collapsing underneath you as you frantically try to escape.
I was hoping for a mix of BF2 and BC2 and instead it feels like BC2 with more players and jets but far less destruction.
So, I've been having some issues with Origin these last few weeks. I can't seem to go online to select my games from my library. Instead of doing that, I've just logged onto the Battlelog website and started my game from there.
But now that there is a new patch, I can't get Origin to go online for me to download it. I don't know what to do.

That's weird. I'd suggest either try re-installing Origin or contact EA Customer Support. Check these out in the meantime:
So Close Quarters was released today to everyone. Has anyone bought it yet or played it as a premium member? The maps look kind of interesting but I am not a huge fan of the COD style gameplay that Dice is so gung ho to replicate. Wouldn't mind getting some new weapons though...
I would say its more like CounterStrike than COD, especially GunMaster (GunGame, from CounterStrike).
I bought the Premium deal because I figured I'd end up buying the DLC later anyway, plus I've certainly gotten my $60 worth already by playing 100+ hours. I like the new maps, and new game modes, but it does almost feel like a different game. The increased environment damage is cool, but in BF3 you rarely have time to look around a notice the piles of plaster that have been shot off the studs...

I mostly play Rush so the maps generally don't appeal to me because they're Conquest and TDM only correct? Extra weapons would be nice and I would have no problem buying Premium if I hadn't gotten Back to Karkland with the Limited Edition. I would like that AUG though...
So I caved and bought Premium on the weekend. I think I only ran through the CQ maps 2 times each before I decided to play Rush. The new maps are pretty chaotic. Haven't tried the Gun Master mode so I can't comment on that but the CQ maps on Conquest Domination felt a lot like COD to me. I spent most of the time sprinting around with a P-90 mowing guys down. The destruction is cool but you do move so fast through the levels that it's hard to really appreciate it. Haven't unlocked any of the new weapons but some of them look promising. I still figure Premium is worth it so long as the next 3 DLC packs add some good maps. Definitely wouldn't mind seeing some BC2 maps added for Rush.
Random thought: The Recon class is pretty terrible. Since release I've almost exclusively played as Medic/Assualt but I've recently been trying to get the unlocks for all of the other classes. Recon just seems worthless. Yes they can paint targets for Javelins but so can someone with the CTV Station unlock. Sniper riffles themselves are pretty meh. There isn't much point in actually sniping because it takes more than 1 shot to kill a person unless you hit them in the head. It's much more effective to run around with iron sights/red dot and play the class like assualt. Recon seemed more useful in BC2 where they could call in mortar strikes, toss out motion tracker balls and use C4.

I play as recon and sometimes top the leaderboard - top 5 for sure. I throw out a TUGs for spotting which earns good points if you find a good area. Also if you're having trouble getting one shot kills - move to the 1st gun, the MOD which has ok power and can take guys down with a couple shots which is more than easy enough to do. I find even if I don't get a one shot kill - I wound them so much I usually get close to full points for the assist when someone finishes him off.

Oh I can snipe perfectly fine. I just find the class useless especially when half your team is sitting in the spawn sniping. That's the reason why a run around without scopes on mine. I think you need about 2-3 snipers per team max. Anything more then that and it's a guaranteed loss. I also cannot stand squad leaders who sit back and snipe.

Ahhh - I misunderstood you. I thought you meant the mechanics of the class were broken when really it's the people playing the class you don't like. Got it. That can be frustrating sometimes I agree.

Exactly. Nine times out of ten I'd rather have any other class on my team. I find the Recon's loadout to be far less useful (or flexible) compared to BC2. Now a Recon who moves up to support the rest of the squad with well placed radio beacons and drones is okay in my books. Any Recon that joins my squad and sits in the spawn or far away from an objective gets booted.
I had this awesome moment playing Rush on Metro a couple weeks ago. Our team loses the first set of MCOMs and we fall back into the tunnels where we have 4 guys (inlcuding myself) set up with M60s covering the far right tunnel. All you could hear in the metro was continuous fire from our side. We just had guys alternately unloading their M60s non-stop. It was hilariously effective lol.
