Anyway, me and a couple friends are looking at something for reading week. Requirements are:
1) open water, we want to try get our PADI certificates while we're down there.
2) over 25 degrees, gotta be nice!
3) all-inclusive, we like to drink and eat.
Dates are Feb 13-22 (we're looking for 7 nights in that range).
Think you could find anything good?
Thanks in advance,
Malcolm

I think you're going to be hard up to find a deal on a holiday weekend... I just glanced and all the "all inclusive package tours" are starting off @ around $1200 (that's 3+ stars... I'm not sure if you would want to go lower than that).
The weather on the west coast of the states isn't that great right now, so could be a gamble on getting that +25 degrees... Florida is OK, but you're not going to get an all inclusive. Not that the alcohol isn't cheap in the states
The only way to get under $1000 is if you change your departure to before the 9th or after the 11th.

Thanks Malcom. Unfortunately there's a lack of great deals for that date range, thanks to reading week & family day.
The cheapest are some 3*'s in Santo Domingo, Dominican for $1164/person after taxes.
http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Rev..._Republic.html
Next cheapest after that is Club Viva Fortuna (3) over in the Bahamas for $1333.
http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Rev...d_Bahamas.html
Best 'deal' might be the El Cid Granada (3) in Mexico, $1352, leaving on the 15th.
http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Rev...fic_Coast.html
or the El Cid Resort Castilla (4) for $1442.
That's pretty much everything, everywhere, for under $1500.
Not sure about the diving for each location. I think the diving in Mazatlan might be terrible. I would think Cozumel or the Mayan would be better bets.

I took a quick look as well. I found a few that may interest you depending of your price range.
http://www.exitnow.ca/package.php?action=searchPackage
Most range from $1100+ (all in) and leave from Feb 9 onwards. Make sure you look down the list as the initial cost will be more but the taxes really decrease as well.

Calgary to Paris *and* Budapest - $868
1. Go to Kayak, do a multi-city search
2.
YYC -> CDG (Paris) leaving Apr 21
CDG -> BUD (Budapest) leaving Apr 24
BUD -> YYC leaving Apr 30.
Should come to a total of $868. You can play around with the Paris to Budapest leg if you want to give yourself more or less time in Paris.
Round trip price including taxes, on Air France.

Figured I would post this in this thread
http://www.tc.gc.ca/eng/mediaroom/re...h007e-5812.htm
Quote:
OTTAWA — Canada’s Transport Minister John Baird today announced that airline passengers who are travelling to the United States are now permitted to bring one carry-on bag with some small exceptions. This new measure replaces the temporary restriction on carry-on bags introduced as a result of the December 25, 2009 security incident on Northwest Flight 253 from Amsterdam to Detroit.
|
Quote:
The new one carry-on bag rule takes effect on January 20, 2010 in all Canadian airports. Details are provided in the attached fact sheet.

My wife and I are going to New York in June (june 8th to be exact) Should I be booking it now or are the chances of a sale between now and then likely?

Hey cmyden,
It's a little rush but I'm hoping to see what the best prices are that you can find for flights between YYZ - HKG or YOW - HKG
Going through the US could be a viable option.
Departure Feb 11 or 12 and return Feb 20 or 21

I used that too, but the prices there aren't the greatest, I was wondering if you have more places to check.
Thanks cmyden

Prices for Vegas are usually only decent a few months ahead of time. It actually doesn't look like WestJet even has their vacation packages for Bellagio in August yet? They're only up to June.
So you'd either have to book your own package...
Cheapest flight is currently $569 after taxes on Alaska (Aug 12-15) and then get your own price for Bellagio.
Or look at the 'flight + hotel' packages on Travelocity/Expedia. That seems to be about all you can do at the moment.
It's tough for a wedding not to want to have it booked far in advance, but for Vegas, I'd say August is still too far away.

Not sure if this has been mentioned or if even in the right place

So looks like no direct routes to the emirates for the unforeseeable future?

Cmyden, our dear, official CP travel agent, any good deals to NYC on Feb 12-15? I'm looking for a late afternoon on the 12th and late as possible on the 15th departure. I can't find much below $800 which is a horrid price. Thanks

.
Unfortunately that's the Family day weekend, as well as the start of reading week, which means prices are expensive, everywhere.
Best I can see is $753 into JFK on Alaska Airlines. Leaves at 6PM, comes back at 4:25PM.
Nothing cheaper anywhere, Newark, Laguardia, even Philly.
