Ferland's arguable best quality is that he's a big "team" guy. He wants to see his group succeed and help his linemates be better. His physicality in Brandon has opened up a lot of ice for Mark Stone this year, which can only bode well.
I'm not entirely sure if that style can translate 100% to the pros, but it'll be very useful.

I'd expect all those players to make strong pushes, as well as Brodie who has already graduated to full time NHL duties.

I'd have to agree with this list. I can't really see any other Heat player pushing for a spot next season. The only one I think you missed that should be added is Clay Wilson, like Freeway said. Haven't got a chance to watch Connelly yet (you Calgary people will get the first chance to check him out at the Dome on Thursday), but he sounds very much like another Wilson type.
I have to say though, Martin was a great signing by Feaster. He's everything that Darryl wanted Pelech to be, but with better hockey sense and far superior skating. He's going to be a long-term project for the Flames, but is definitely worth keeping an eye on.

I completely forgot about Wilson and Connelly possibly pushing for spots with the team, probably because I was mostly thinking about early 20's prospects, or younger.

Kostopoulos and Jackman are UFA's so they may not even be in the race.

Max Reinhart returned to Kootenay's line-up this afternoon. He's already got an assist.

Not sure I'd include Nemisz or Reinhart there. Nemisz is almost stuck in a tweener catagory right now...excellent AHLer, but doesn't have the tools to be a 4th line player and isn't good enough yet to be 3rd line. Reinhart probably will need a little more time to get adjusted to the pro level game. He doesn't absolutely dominate like a player who makes the team out of camp does (though I'd love to be wrong. Brodie almost made the team out of nowhere and hasn't stopped getting better this year). He's doing great for sure and I think will have a pretty short AHL training period before pushing for a spot (1-2 years)...just isn't ready yet.
Still nice to see young blood pushing for NHL jobs though.

Nemisz's skating is his biggest downfall. He NEEDS more speed. If he can work on and improve greatly on that in the offseason with Hesketh, I could see him pushing for a 3rd line spot.
I believe he has the hockey IQ and the skill set to make in the NHL. His passing skills are phenomenal and his work along the boards is one of the best on the team. He's been getting more physical this season. Not aggressive, but physical.

The Wheat Kings are on Shaw right now.
Ferland just scored a beauty on a wraparound to cut the lead to 1. 2-1 for the Pats.

Ferland seals the comeback win with his 2nd goal late in the third period. 3-2 Wheat Kings win.

I would love to see some of these guys make the team next year. And maybe a Wilson or Connelly on the D.

It was my first time watching Ferland last night and I came away impressed.
He sort of reminded me of a Backes type player, is it likely that his offense translates to the NHL, or is he a career bottom sixer?

I'm probably not the best guy to be answering this, but I really do think he'll be an NHL player, without a doubt.
He's physically well built and dominates the kids he's playing with. Of course though, he won't be able to dominate NHL competition like he does WHL competition. He's a fun guy to watch right now because you notice whenever he's on the ice. That'll be harder to do next season.
If he doesn't have the skill to play top 6, I think he'll find a good role as a 3rd liner in the future.
Things can change a lot. If he focuses on the more skillful aspects of his game, he should become a very solid player.

Two goals and one assist for Gaudreau tonight against Vermont...Nothing for Arnold so far. Five mins. left in third.
Why is it so difficult to find stats on these games?

wow, Gaudreau is racking up quite some points. 13+11 in 29 games is pretty impressive for a freshman. Hopefully he can keep it up. BTW, he now has 6 points (4+2) over 2 games.
Our WHL prospects are also in action tonight. Turner Elson's Rebels play against Max Reinhart's Ice (both scoreless after 30 minutes) and Michael Ferland plays against Swift Current (he is scoreless after 40). Sven Bärtschi and Tyler Wotherspoon meet Tri-City (game just started). Laurent Brossoit gets the night off.
