Well, deal with it. I wasn't cheering for Canada either way. Nothing worse than arrogant Canadian fans. They'd be lucky to finish 4th. Quote me on that. They have a bad team and that is why I won't be cheering for them.

In answer to your question in the other thread, I think Forbidden Island is a great 'gateway' game. The narrative is really engaging and the co-op style makes it easy for new gamers to talk ask about strategy or advice. Carcassonne Hunters & gatherers is the other one I usually bring out for new gamers.
Are there any aspiring board game designers on here? A few friends and I have been having a monthly game design work shopping night, and more are always welcome.

Kind of.
I used to be really into that kind of thing a few years back but never got anywhere with the ideas.
I'd love to try and get back into it again! Can you send me details?
I've been playing lots of MTG lately and recently constructed a cube* to allow me to draft with some friends that don't want to buy cards of their own. It's been a lot of fun so far and I've been able to hook a friend or two into joining the hobby more seriously. It's great because I was able to build the cube for next to no cost; it's filled entirely with commons and uncommons that I already owned.
*a cube is a set of 360 or more cards built with the intention of drafting. You can put whatever you want in a cube and each cube generally follows a theme. Some are "powered" and contain only the best cards from the entire history of MTG.

"Board Game of the Year" — GeekDad's Jonathan Liu
"A wonderful game that offers the thrill of a traditional roleplaying game without the need for a game master." — Deseret News, Top 10 Tabletop Games of 2013
"RPG publisher Paizo certainly made a grand entrance into the board gaming end of the business this year with the Pathfinder Adventure Card Game. Pathfinder pretty much has anything you could want in an RPG-style card game and then some. I think Pathfinder was my most-played game of 2013." — No High Scores
The Pathfinder Adventure Card Game was also included on the Best of 2013 lists by All Us Geeks, Maximum Pixelation, and GeekMom, among others.
Cards against Humanity released a special pack for the 2nd season of House of Cards. My favourite white cards:
-Ribs so good they transcend race and class
-the sensitive european photographer whos ****ing my wife
they gave them away free and sadly I didnt know about it until today and there is none left. Ill have to buy them on ebay, hopefully not for a billion dollars

Play Cards Against Humanity with your buddies whilst drinking. It was a Kickstarter campaign that was wildly successful and is becoming very popular (its sold out at the moment, even online!)
You're going to hell for playing this game, but it'll be worth it.
