I counter with the jays splitting the next two in Seattle then winning both in front of the home fans to go to the World Series.

Castillo isn’t what he once was . If the Jays stay patient he will walk guys and hang pitches - and he doesn’t strike out anyone anymore
Put the pressure on him early and he won’t go 4
He’s basically Berrios at this point of his career

The Jays seem to play up/down to the caliber of the opposing pitcher. Let’s hope that trend continues tomorrow.

If you told me last off-season that we’d be sitting here in Mid October 2025 with Max Scherzer about to take the mound in game 4 of the ALCS for the Jays I would have been ecstatic.
Confused, but totally jacked up!

Vlad should’ve had a triple and been only the second player in mlb playoffs to hit a cycle. Fables told him to stop.
Live it definitely seemed he could’ve gotten there.
Jeter told him post game to pretend he didn’t see the 3b coach.

I like that Vladdy didn’t go for it. No need to risk hurting yourself over a personal stat in a blowout game.

Vlad pulling his groin or previously injured hamstring to get a cycle would be less then ideal

It's about time the offence woke up. Keep it going for the rest of the series.

Celebrated Square Root Day

I am also fully on the Max Scherzer train for tomorrow. Put my Blue Jays jersey on tonight for the first time this series and we blew up right after. No big deal, you're welcome.

So there is at least one real Jays fan here.
Was fun to read the early comments in the first inning of tonight's game. Congrats to the fairweather fans - you know who you are.
Go Jays

Alright what you got for us today Mad Max.... the last few starts haven't been great, but there was a time in the middle of the season before the Bieber trade where we thought Scherzer could've been our game 1 or 2 starter. Turn back the clock and get us even in the series.

Definitely, easily. Vlad came out of the box slow, expecting it to be a double. If he came out fast it could have been a triple but he eased up initially. Had he made the attempt to round 2nd he'd have easily been out. The 3B coach was smart enough to hold him up.

Gimenez is a much better hitter than what he was this year, so was nice to see him come up with a big hit that got them team going.
Just because the Mariners won the first two in this series does not mean the residual effects of a longer series with Detroit have completely disappeared. If anything it likely starts to show up later in this series. The Mariners also use about 10 guys for their lineup with little variation and not much subbing. So the position guys might also show some fatigue later on.

I'm cautiously optimistic that the extended period of rest for Scherzer has rejuvenated him. Either way, he has so much experience, especially in the playoffs, that as long as his arm isn't completely dead, he can probably navigate through 5 innings pretty well. Just keep the spin rate up like Beiber did. Bassitt can come in if needed for another 3 innings.
