There's still teams over the cap and unsigned RFAs and UFAs... so of course more to come.

But yeah it's probably pretty quiet until camps get underway now.

Markstrom, Vladar : Should have been a top 10 goaltending tandem.

Andersson, Weegar, Tanev, Kylington, Hanifin, Zadorov, Stone: Should have been a top 5 defensive core but they missed Kylington's skating all season.

Huberdeau, Kadri, Lindholm, Toffoli, Backlund, Coleman, Dube, Mangiapane: Should have been a middle of the pack top 9 and better if Huberdeau was 90+ points as expected.

I'll always wonder what that team looks like if you replace:

Lewis, Lucic, Ritchie, Ritchie with Rooney, Ruzicka, Pelletier, Zary, Duehr, Phillips going right back to that offseason.

The makings of a good team were there...Sutter just needed to adjust his approach a little bit to be a bit more open to youth and creativity...and instead with those other guys leaving he leaned the other way and became even more stubborn.

Sutter went crazy after the Dallas series. He wouldn't have taken us anywhere.

Rookie tournament and pre-season sounds intriguing.

Not looking forward to next regular season at all. Didn't watch a single game live after Big Z got traded.

I was looking forward to the draft, and Conny using all his picks The Marky trade, the Mangiapane was a sweet surprise.

Also free agency and Conny and doing nothing and sticking to the plan.

Just to spark some conversation during the boring downtime of summer

A hypothetical move that could be made is for the Rangers to acquire an elite two-way defenseman from the Calgary Flames, Mackenzie Weegar.
...
Acquiring Weegar certainly would not be a low-cost move. For starters, the former second-overall pick, Kaapo Kakko, would be one of the key pieces, as the Flames have been linked to Kakko. This would give the Finish native a chance to blossom and give Calgary a potential elite young winger.

Trouba could go the other way if the Flames were not on his no-move list for salary purposes, but the circumstances surrounding a move of the Rangers captain are a bit complicated. The Flames would also require a solid prospect, and the Rangers’ 2022 second-round pick, Adam Sýkora, is just that. A mid-round pick could also be involved in the deal as well.

While I wouldn't be opposed to trading Weegar...I would be looking for an overpay (blue chip prospect, high draft pick, etc). This trade is a lot of meh.

Kappo is a reclamation project at this point and is worth less than Bennett was (two seconds). The proposed trade is the equivalent of Weegar for a cap dump, 3 second rd picks and a mid round pick.

That is a terrible return. If the Rangers want Weegar, they would have to pay up - Calgary has no incentive to trade him.

And that means offering something that will actually entice them - like Perrault.

Rogers Hicks NHL Insider on Twitter (X) says that the Flames have had discussions with the NYR about Weegar or Andersson with Kakko and Chytil discussed as part of the package.

I'm not sure if he is legit, but he has over 2K followers.

He also mentioned that MTL have had talks with the Flames regarding Andersson.

I definitely had interest in Kakko for a while, but now he looks like a Sharangovich or Kuzmenko type at best, and the Flames already have those. The Flames are about to see a flood of middle level talent into the system. They need to stop wasting resources/roster spots on guys that aren't looking all that hot.

I don't see the Flames moving Weegar either. He's just hitting his stride and was a bit of a late bloomer who will play at a top level for many years to come. He'll be part of the post-rebuild plan.

Yeah, no way. He wouldn't even waive to go to Detroit, where he is practically from (Rochester is at the furthest extent of metro Detroit). If he won't play in his home town in the east, no way he would waive to go to Calgary.

Ah, I am still hoping for a Rasmus trade before the season starts.....seems like we have too many Dmen and I don't want an 8MM Rasmus at ages 33 to 38 when we are ready for contention.

I'll never hope for a Ras trade, he likes it here and has captain material. And our blueline is pretty abysmal as it stands.

If he asks for a trade or someone blows our socks of with a package so be it, but it would be a tough day to lose the guy.

Trouba has nowhere near the value of Mercer let alone NJ adding
