I'm not sure Buffalo would, but Colorado moved Byram. Things could happen.

There isn’t a player we could add to Anderson straight up for Power

Not a chance, Sabres would laugh hang up the phone and block Conroy phone number

Fragile? An entire organization’s confidence is shook?

I think you might be a tad optimistic.

Because a) they just traded a top prospect away to “bolster” their roster and b) RHD come at a premium nowadays, just look at what Ottawa did just to get another right handed shot.

Not a rumor but I loved the rope Yzerman has in Detroit. When was the last time you heard a leader say anything of this sort? It's totally refreshing that he'll do things the right way instead of forcing results:

If Yzerman had been able to find a goalie who can stop pucks behind their terrible defense, then they probably would have made the playoffs by now. And I love Yzerman.

Ownership trusts a former franchise player. Hopefully Iginla’s presence and support of Conroy’s plan will have the same influence here.

Like most organizations, here is run very corporate. As much as I like Conroy, to not be able to say "rebuild" is a farce. Yzerman's team assembled isn't very good yet, but the fact that he's able to say truthfully where they are and that it's essentially a crapshoot that they need to be patient and see, is very refreshing. They may be the only franchise that's allowed to speak to freely. Most other GMs just fall in line and speak like politicians.

Yzerman’s team does not look like it will ever be very good so it is good that he has this flexibility. He can stick with the plan with guys like Holl, Copp, Chiarot and rebuild properly.

If a Flames GM said what Yzerman said there's a segment of the fanbase that would be apoplectic. He's anticipating being a bubble team. Someone better tell Yzerman that the only way to build a contender is to tear it down to the studs or he's doing it wrong.

They were far and away the worst team in the NHL in his first year.

In the second year there were only 3 teams worse than them

In the third year there were 7 teams worse than them

In his 4th year there were 7 teams that were worse.

Pretty sure Yzerman tore it down to the studs. Or else he just builds crappy teams.

The funny thing is that Detroit hasn’t been bad enough to get an actual high pick and haven’t lucked out in the lower rounds.

They got screwed in the lottery a couple times. Which isn’t to say Yzerman is a genius or anything. Some of their picks and signings have been questionable. But there’s a lot of luck involved in rebuilds.
