I am inclined to believe that he really can't play and put off the surgery in the hope he might not need it.

This isn't a Mike Smith situation where he was basically LTIR'd for being old. That was a lot more suspect.

I don't care about this part of LTIR. My only beef is when players sit out on LTIR only to be miraculously available for the playoffs, and then they ice a team with a roster that grossly exceeds what the regular season cap was.
Mike Smith should have been LTIR'd for being a dick.

4. Zadarov (Traded - based on high ask)
5. Backlund (Traded - deadline)
6. Tanev (Signed - force him to sit and get healthy <4.5% of cap moving forward)
7. Vladar / Markstrom (trade one of them)

2024-25 Line Up
Huberdeau - Lindholm - Mangiapane
Pelletier - Dube - Sharangovich
Coleman - Kadri - Coronato
Walker - Ruzika - Klapka

Weegar - Andersson
Kylington - Tanev
Poirer - Morin

Wolf / Vladar

Works out to an $83m payroll on $87.5m in cap.
Lindholm less that 8.5% of the cap? So 7.14m per year or less is what you want him to sign for?

If you're signing a long deal...it needs to be 8.5% of the future cap. Over the life of the deal, it's likely the cap pushes over $100m, 2.5% inflation gets the cap to $104m in 7yrs. The estimate for 2025-26 is already $92m. So it's likely even larger.

Perfect.

That's why we have a draft. Our next star to put on the back of a jersey and make memories with. Also cap space. The year after the cap goes to $92m+. We'll have room to move.

They could also surprise. One way or another we'll know.

I heard he was trying his hand at country music. I can't wait to hear such hits as I never saw it coming, You found the 5 hole in me, and Flop, Drop, and Cry. Look for the new CD at a Rexall near you!

He is a UFA. Hoping the Oilers resign him to a 6x6

I just hope somebody signs him. Not a good look for the Oilers.

Ottawa has made a bunch of expensive signings so they have to make room.

But there’s almost no market for that contract. Hence the high price to drop it.

I get that. But how did he rate that kind of money in the first place?

If Kylington is out for any length of time, what do you think getting Calle Rosen out of STL would cost? Last year he was one of STL's best D IMO. He's 30, he's signed to an $800k contract, and he's a UFA at the end of the year.

I think we see one new Dman from the wranglers take a spot. At least for the first 10 games they will take a look at a few guys.

Dunno - because they traded away Nick Paul, who signed an even bigger contract?

There's Gilbert and Osterle as 7th/8th D man, they don't need anyone atm
