No kidding, I get maybe 6 hours on average once I finally fall asleep. That's my fault though. I tell myself I'm going to go to bed at a certain time and end up wasting another hour or an hour and a half.

I’m lucky if I get 11 hours of sleep in 2 nights.

Best case scenario is have Rangers or Mariners go 6-1, 5-2 vs each other and get into 2nd wildcard spot while Jays slip down to 3rd wildcard spot.

Interesting that Hou, Sea, and Tex all play afternoon games today. So by the time the Jays play tonight we'll know what's happened on the OOT.
I wasn't expecting much but if Oakland can just take one of the games from Seattle that would be great. Houston and Texas are up against some tough starters today. So could be an opportunity for a loss or two there...Not going to lie, this is a heck of a lot of fun to follow.

I don't know, everyone wants to be a step up the ladder from where they are - Hicks was a closer for awhile in STL, he'd probably like a chance to earn a spot. He's been pitching well in general lately, and that 8th was excellent.
Plus, pitchers care about stats. If he finished out the game he'd get a save. Because of the runs scored in the 9th Pearson didn't, no save was awarded.
I think you get buy-in from the players if you help a guy out sometimes, especially when he's earned it.
Obviously a little thing, and not how Schneider manages at all.

With how much ananalytics is taking over the game, I think holds are being valued higher than ever. To me a Hold with a 2 or 3 run lead and being able to use the guy the next day is more valuable than getting a 2 inning save when you had a 6 run lead in the 9th. I don't think any MLB team would see that differently. If Hicks is a guy who would rather get s meaningless save and not be available the next day when his team is fighting for a playoff spot. I don't want him on my team. He can go save 30 games for the Pirates and get all the meaningless September saves he wants.

Fair point. I was also looking at from the point of view that you're showing trust in him letting him face Judge et al.
And either way he'd be 2 innings over 2 days, although in this case I suppose the 9th was a much lower leverage situation than the 8th because of the runs they scored in the top.
Also 2 on Tuesday has him available Thursday whereas 1 Tuesday/1 Wednesday he wouldn't be. It sort of depends how today goes...

It is impossible to predict when you will have leads or be in close games and when you won't. 5 games until the next off day so in either case you might have him 3 more times. But this way you open up two chances vs the lesser team in the Yankees to use him while potentially keeping 2 days vs Tampa if needed. Whereas if you burn today you only get Thursday vs the Yankees with Cole going, and than two days in Tampa. I would hope that this is all communicated to him.
They probably have ChatGPT writing code to figure out all the scenarios and which days have higher probability to use certain pitchers.

Oof. Boston jumped out to an early 4-0 lead but Texas has since scored 8 unanswered.

Yup, no help today so the task is easy it's a must win to keep pace. No Vladdy today won't be great but we have young players who can step in. I wonder if he can pinch hit still off the bench.
