Meanwhile The Bucks, Perry, and even Daniels are no longer on AEW television. Punk and Omega could have worked together, and put on banger matches. That's probably the direction they would have gone down if the events at Wembley didn't happen.
If AEW fails or if AEW ends up in the same constant spiral that TNA eventually fell into to become loltna. How this entire thing was handled will be looked at as the beginning. The company had a moment where it needed to make it work or make a choice between their biggest star or two namesakes. It did neither and then their biggest star made the choice for them.

The story I read is that Tony's dad didn't want to actually be involved regularly but I think it's more likely Tony's ego just couldn't let kayfabe happen. He kept having to come out and clarify he was actually still in charge. It took any wind out of the sails of an angle that started out lame.
I mean, lets be honest, AEW isn't going to go bankrupt unless Tony gets frustrated and decides to kill it.
Or his dad has him committed to a mental institution and stops writing checks.
The problem is with the declining ratings and audience levels, could eventually hurt the enthusiasm of the TV deal. There are no guarantees, remember that CMT I think it was actively sabotaged their TV deal with Heyman and ECW so they could execute their end clause.
I think that the biggest problem with AEW is probably Tony, the one lesson that he didn't learn from his time as a wrestling super fan watching WWE is that you can't let the inmates run the asylum, and you can't be buddies with your workers because wrestlers will run all over you.
I've also said in the past that one of the biggest mistakes that companies like WCW and Wrestling in Florida in the 8i0's and mid south is letting active talent act as bookers. Dusty as smart as he was, was toxic to WCW and FCW when he was booking for them. When WCW had Kevin Nash and Hogan helping with booking, they got their buddies big paychecks and didn't develop young talent.
For me, if I was running AEW, and this is me. Jericho, the Bucks would probably be gone, I'd focus on building young talent. I'd probably release a whole bunch of the roster especially if I was going to end up with one two hour show on TV.
I would bring in producers with backbones that weren't friends with the talent and not active. And I wouldn't do the booking because I know better that most of my ideas would be nonsense.

First episode of the streaming era, solid Dynamite. Ricochet is getting real heat and they used it perfectly. Main event was fun, not sure I hate the Cope name, but it sounds better than Adam Copeland. Not sure we should care that much. Very cool thing they did for FTRs hometown of Asheville.

The minute I heard them call him Cope yesterday, first thing I thought of was 'welp, this is going to get absolutely tarred and feathered on the SquaredCircle reddit' lol

I think the biggest issue for him is that it doesn't matter what he tries to call himself, everyone will instinctively call him "Edge". I am not sure he's going to get any other name "Over" at this point.

I wish they would have just gone to the thesaurus
"Now entering the ring area, from Toronto, Alberta Canada, it the rated R super Star . . . . Border" or "Primacy" or They could have called him "The whip hand" or "Primacy" or "Mantaur"

CM Punk didn't have to change his name, I'm sure AEW could have made a deal with "Edge", I'm sure they WWE feels that Edge will eventually do some kind of fairwell tour or hall of fame ceremony with him, so they'd be willing to let him hold on to his name.
Cope just sounds dopey, like Paul E Shore.

Nah CM Punk owns CM Punk. WWE owns Edge. His name was always going to change.
I don't post in here much anymore, but I did want to say, they should have just called thim "The Ledgend" Adam Copeland and left it at that. Just like his T-shirt.

To take a break from #### talking AEW.
I think that 3 hour Smack Down is going to be garbage.
Yeah I'm liking the two hour timeslots for weekly shows. It means a higher quality product IMO, since everyone is competing for limited time, and the effort is elevated. 3+ hours should be reserved for PPVs only.

Is it true that Smackdown will only be available on Youtube for Canadians tonight? I had read (reddit i think) that Smackdown wont officially start on Netflix until after the first RAW January 6, but Sportsnet has already moved on and the WWE network ceased to exist in Canada Dec 31.

It’s funny. He had an entire run defending his belt called the “Cope Open” a year ago. All of a sudden everyone cares now haha
