There's a 4 hour cut of Dances with Wolves on Amazon Prime (complete with intermission!).
It's a bit of an overrated movie from an award-winning standpoint but I thought this cut fleshed out a lot of the story based on what I remember from the theatrical version.
Originally, I thought this movie was trite, sappy and cheesy when I was younger. Now, it's kind of a selling feature. Weird.
Regardless, it's a beautifully shot movie visually.

This scene was filmed at Furry Creek- north of Vancouver up towards whistler. (I think the whole movie was shot in BC)
One of the nicest golf courses I've ever played.

I watched it recently. Definitely fills in some plot holes with the outpost. There's some added scenes on the back half I didn't think it needed but it definitely fleshed out the story much better. Made for a proper western IMO. Worth a watch.

You can catch it at every Wrangler's game in under 2 hours.

I got to play in a charity tournament at Swaneset, where they shot some scenes and the big clubhouse from the movie is.
They were really going for word of mouth and social media buzz in all the wrong ways. This appears to be a growing trend..get people into seats with gross out scenes and outrageous antics for the reactions.
First two acts were fairly solid though all things considered. Kind of unraveled and fell into tropes of movies past that stretched well past believability at the end. Little bit of an eye roller.
What frightens me is the things we're slowly normalizing and desensitizing for younger audiences with movies like these.
Saw Lisa Frankenstein today. Strange, but fun film. It's almost like they were intentionally making a B movie. I really liked both leads in it.
It's one of those films that will likely flop in the box office, but become a cult classic in about 10 years. I had fun.
I'm not outright recommending it for anyone, but if you saw the trailer and thought you might like it, I'd check it out. Let me know if you do. I have a theory about the psyche of the main character that I want to run past someone.

Seeing it as part of a valentine's evening with my person. We're both looking forward to it, and expect much of what you outlined based on the trailer.
Good to hear it's fun, despite it hovering around 50% on RT.
Watched another 70s classic; All That Jazz. I can hardly describe the cinematic journey I went on with that film except I want to watch it again and again and will probably watch it every year for the rest of my days. What a fantastic film, that really helps make my point that 70s was the best decade in film. I wish we got films like All That Jazz still. My rating is 4 balloons out of 4.

Had to fire up Happy Gilmore yesterday in memory of Carl Weathers. Still one of the funniest movies ever it's absolutely hilarious. I wish Adam Sandler still did movies for an older audience.
Adam Sandler has been in two major movies in the last 5 years that target an adult audience specifically in Uncut Gems a drama/thriller that focuses on sports betting in the highest degree and Hustle which is a motivational sports film drama / comedy also targeted towards adults. In my opinion, both are terrific films and I would highly really recommend them to anyone that is into those particular genres without a hitch.

Licorice Pizza just didn't work for me. The narrative meanders and lacks a clear storyline. Overall it felt disjointed and aimless.
The characters were really lacking depth, especially in terms of their motivations and relationships - which was the central focus of the movie. That made it was a glaring deficit.
And holy ####, that's Philip Seymour Hoffman's kid! I'm surprised I didn't know this.

You saying that it purposefully puts itself in the realm of B movies, is the first thing that has put this movie on my radar.

My Bob Fosse experience is lacking. I’ve seen Cabaret but that’s it. Nothing else really looked appealing but I guess I should give All That Jazz a try.

Star 80 a lot of people don't like, and while it's a hard watch based on some of the content, I think it's good. Lenny looks great. Does a lot of the same things in capturing nightlife and cabarets like Cabaret. I think its greatest mistake is casting Hoffman as Lenny Bruce. Valerie Perrine rules in that movie. Sweet Charity is worth checking out if you're a movie musical fan. It flopped because folks were sick of that classic musical genre, which is why Cabaret as a deconstructed musical with all the music being diegetic was pretty revolutionary. But I think it's worth even just watching the 'Hey Big Spender' number on YouTube. All That Jazz is semi autobiographical and based on teh time he was trying finish Lenny in post production and stage Chicago at the same time.
(sorry sorry Fosse is one of my hyperfixations.)

American Fiction is an outstanding movie. I rate it 10/10. Great storytelling, awesome story...some laughs, some sadness. It's just great. Loved it and highly recommend.
