Call me crazy but I hope Kylington, Valimaki and Andersson are all longtime Flames.
- Kylington has the highest offensive ceiling
- Valimaki has the best all around potential
- Andersson is a RHed shot that has good potential also
- We have no prospects on defense behind them
- 2 of the top 4 are UFA's next offseason
- Gio is 35 yrs old
I don't know why we would move any of them.

My guess is Voracek. Going back to Columbus?

I want to keep Bennett because I think hes a culture guy on this team at the very least. Jankowski is a great young player but really couturier is replacing him in the roster. Couts could step into his pk spots easily too
Jankowski, kylington, 2019 1st... anything else we could sweeten the pot with?

I don’t know why Philly would even consider trading him away. You need contracts like that on your team.

I would guess if Couturier got moved for a package with a young NHL forward, one of the three young d and a 1st/prospect they would want Janko back not Bennett as they'd need a centre to replace him. Only dreaming anyway but it is the year to do it. Couturier would be a huge add and here for almost the whole window of contention.

I can’t disagree with that at all. I’m mostly just thinking long term I wouldn't want to give up young guys that we have developed that I think will just keep getting better. The Flames are a young team that are killing it this year. They should be better in the years to come. But getting a player or two that pushes or chances at a cup maybe is the answer. I trust in Tre to make the right decision.

Again, just my opinion. Couturier , 26 has 4 more years at 4.33 AAV and is a better player than Backlund offensively and at least as good defensively.
He is going to cost a lot but what the Flames need.

My answer would be....after this group goes through the rigors of a playoff season together and gains that experience.
There are a LOT of young and/or playoff greenhorns on this club.
That being said, I certainly could see it happening this year as well....seems like something pretty special might be taking place here. The playoffs are just such a different animal though.

I was thinking something along those lines too. Philly offs Voraceks contact to clear space to sign Panarin.
The large East Coast market might have more appeal to a guy like him.
When Kekalainen was with the Blues in 07, Voracek was a guy he liked a lot. I remember a draft special on the Bluse and they had a deal with the Sharks to trade back from 9 to 13 which hinged on Voracek not being on the board still. Blues traded down and took Eller at 13 while Sharks moved up to grab Couture at 9. Jarmo wasn't the guy who made the original Voracek for Carter deal.

Potential Trade Targets For The Calgary Flames:
Quote:
Calgary remains under the salary cap by about $1.779 million. Now come the deadline, those dollars translate to approximately $8.27 million. So the dilemma is not much of one.
The Calgary Flames can mitigate that further by placing Stone on the long-term injured list. That frees up even more money to acquire talent.
Who could come and go? Let’s take a peak.
Niklas Hjalmarsson — Hjalmarsson would be a defensive upgrade for his ability to play within himself alone. His relative possession compared to the team is +2.6% at even strength, and this is despite a defensive deployment of over 64%. There are a few snags in a trade. His cap hit is $4.1 million over the next few seasons (not just one year). Furthermore, the Arizona Coyotes defenseman submits a ten team list of teams he desires to go to. Finally, there is the cost of trading within a division. That likely drives up the asking price a little bit.
A couple of cheaper targets
Anthony DeAngelo — DeAngelo appears out of New York in a New York minute come the trade deadline. On a porous New York Rangers squad, his metrics are +3% compared to team relatives. His ice time is sheltered at around 18 1/2 to 19 minutes — that is up two minutes from last year. The problem is he has only played in 31 games. He has been healthy scratched often. The 23-year-old defenseman could be acquired for a very reasonable draft pick or low ranking prospect.
Jordan Oesterle — Oesterle presents as a cheap move made closer to the trade deadline. The defenseman has been serviceable for the Arizona Coyotes. The asking price for Oesterle would likely be a late round draft pick. The nice part is the rental could be brought back for cheap next season as well if he impresses.

I can’t imagine what we would have to give up for Stone. It would be an all in move.

On the other hand, If you could get him and sign him the flames would have the best top 6 in the league.

Don’t want to seem like I am fixated but I like Couturier a lot more offensively and defensively. He is a 1 b or high end 2 C with great AAV and term.

Yeah, but Fletcher is competent and Melnyk is a loose cannon.
Why does Philly trade couts?
Trading for a player a team doesn't want to give up doesn't come cheap. I'd love coutourier too, Ivana Toilet-Seat-Made-Out-Of-Solid-Gold, but its just not in the cards now, is it?

Would go as high as 2 firsts, Jankowski or Bennett, Andersson or Kylington because of AAV , term, age and 200 foot game.
