Imagine if they did? That defense would go from terrible to historically awful. Nurse and Bouchard being your top 2 defenders who can't actually defend, then Kulak and a bunch of replacement-level scrubs to fill out the rest of the D core. Would be glorious to watch.

I enjoy Ekholm being the only guy with defensive IQ on the team who plays like he gives two ####s just to see him constantly flabbergasted at the godawful defense from the rest of the team that leads to goals against.

In particular his WTF expressions at bouchie after his controller disconnects.

Probably a far cry from what he was used to in Nashville.

They just mentioned that Crosby's fight with Kyle Connor was the 10th of his career. Made me wonder. Has McItsallaboutme ever dropped the gloves? I think even Gretzky had a couple of fights.

Don't know if he has in the AHL, but I recall in junior he threw a bunch and hit the glass breaking his hand.

It doesn't look like it. Taking a quick look at his stats, he has only been given one major penalty in his career, and it was a boarding penalty. He has never been assessed a fighting major.

Nobody really expects him to fight... and that's generally okay.

But when say, a teammate gets a dirty hit it's incumbent on team leadership to answer the bell.

The Oilers traded their first round pick this year (likely in the teens) for the 32nd overall pick in the draft last year. The player they drafted, Sam O’Reilly, is currently 9th on the London Knights for scoring, behind 3 dmen and 5 forwards. Edmonton is no good.

Is that pick lottery protected? Would they even think about protecting it, assuming they were cup favourites?

If they trade 2026 1st, their 2025 1st will become unprotected as well, right? If that's the case, do it Oilers.

According to Capwages:

Quote:
If Edmonton's 2025 1st is top 12, Philadelphia will receive an unprotected 2026 1st round pick. If Edmonton chooses to trade the 2026 1st round pick, then Philadelphia will receive an unprotected 2025 1st round pick.
I believe this is accurate.

Its a harder transition to pro hockey for small players. And Buffalo gave up on him awful easily, with the explanation being around his shoulder injury issues, but there has to be more then that.

But Buffalo is looking pretty smart and Edmonton pretty dumb as Ryan McLeod has looked pretty good for the Sabres.

I doubt that we see Savoie on the ice in Edmonton for a year.

based on how he's trending right now that would be the right thing to do, but (other than their cap constraints) some of that braintrust will have a hard time resisting showing him off at some point
