Normally my Ryobi electric blower has more than enough juice for me to clean my driveway as well as my neighbors, but it's never had to deal with this much snow. Most of my driveway had 2 feet on it thanks to the drifts, I barely managed to clear my driveway before it died (sorry neighbor)

Oh and a special #### you to the delivery driver who used my unplowed driveway to turn around in, leaving nice big compacted ice ruts that I had to dig out the scraper for. Jackass

Using someone’s driveway to turn around in has always seemed incredibly disrespectful to me. Like I understand technically you don’t own the first however many feet of it but still. Anyone who does that is a loser.

I like to be a good neighbor and use their lawn instead.

Yeah, do like the guy on my street. Try to turn around in the middle of the road, get stuck, and then give up and go home, leaving your car in the middle of the road so no one can get past.

My driveway is regularly used for this. But even worse, sometimes they drive onto the sidewalk which really pisses me off.

I considered a battery thrower, but got a gas one for this reason. I won't technically run out of battery/the battery won't be affected by the temperatures that occasionally are involved with the large dump of snow and batteries wise, I still have a leaf blower for the lighter snow (Sorry Fuzz! But due to the average age, many of my other neighbors have seemingly started to adopt the leaf blower/snow thrower concept).

I also spend a few extra minutes and I throw/flatten the snow piles/accumulation on the street parking space in front of my house. Usually it means there's less likelihood of anyone getting stuck in front of my place and then no one will ask me to push them out and less likelihood someone pulls onto my driveway to do turn around. I noticed that stuck vehicles happened mostly when someone underestimated their clearance and tried to impatiently drive over an iced over snow pile. Elevated tires on an FF, it's hard to go anywhere. Same reason for the steel shovel. It's usually ice/semi frozen stuff that many people get stuck on, not powder.

Too bad there isn’t a lawnmower attachment you can buy for clearing ice. Something like the de-thatching blade I bet would work awesome for when there’s compacted snow and ice.

Maybe I should look into an electric shovel, the current non electric one isn't doing so great anymore

I legitimately used to use a hoe to scrape/dislodge certain types of ice/compacted snow. It worked quite well and was a little more ergonomic than an ice chipper, especially on compacted snow that wasn't ice yet. After doing that for a few years, the weld holding the 90 degree section of the blade gave out.

If you do plan on getting a tool for that purpose long term, get one with a forged one piece blade vs a two piece welded blade, so that it will increase the chance of lasting more than a few years if regularly used on stuff other than dirt.

I've had this done on my driveway - the catch is I live on a circle road. Either direction gets you where you need to go - no turning around needed.

Same, and I live in the middle. There was absolutely no reason for asshat to turn around at all

It’s probably parkers on the other side. Not bright enough to come in the other way.

Greenworks 80v, the one from Costco. Good solid foot of heavy snow when I got home just now and even with a bit of a low battery had no issue moving it all whatsoever. Thing is a beast.

If you're visiting someone and you want to park on the street, it's unlikely that you intuitively knew a spot was going to be open on that specific side and not the other. My old street in Garrison Green was a bloody parking lot most of the time, so if you found a spot you wanted to park in, you did your three-point turn where you could.

I don't think you need to pull into someone's driveway to turn around, though. Nosing up to the driveway curb, then reversing and turning around should be more than sufficient unless you drive a really stupid vehicle.

Few people out there appear to have the cognitive ability to pull off a three point turn. If you ever forget, just visit an elementary school drop off zone in the morning. You will leave with zero faith in humanity.

I had cheaper small ego one, and we rarely used it. I would just shovel because it was faster most times. And if the snow was wet, the EGO couldn't throw it. It would just plug up. I also found the batteries were starting lose life. Even on the shelf, they would drain quickly. However, today's snow would have been good for it. I had a small TORO I sold to get the EGO. I wish I had the TORO still. That one was solid.
