Couturier would be expensive, but very worth it.

Hell no. It's the Flyers adding if they want Harvey for Gritty. Maybe Gritty + Slapshot for Harvey.

If they were even listening I think they would want Valimaki as part of the return. They would for sure want Janko as a replacement as I don't see any other youngish centres that are options. Plus a couple blue chip pieces basically taking the pick of the system . Dube and Valimaki. 1st and Valimaki. Valimaki is the flames best young player who isn't a key piece of the roster and I can't see a team moving a young cost controlled star without asking for him.
But honestly I don't know why they would move him. Guy who is an all-star calibre player in his prime on a super cheap deal with a fair bit of term left.
And I don't know that the flames should move Valimaki until they have a better sense of his upside either. A replacement for Gio will be harder to find than a 2a/2b centre in even a good one. I'm only guessing but I could see the flames using Kylington and the 1st if they're hunting a bigger fish... They seem to be higher on Valimaki than Kylington from the soundbites over the year.

Konecny would be a great add he has some serious sandpaper and scoring touch. I don’t see how the Flames could snag him without giving up something we wouldn’t want to part with.

I think Philly would want Bennett/young D/1st....to even begin thinking about Couturier.

That's twice we've had scouts at a Flyers game now in the last little while. I'm still hoping for Simmonds for our 4th line.

If you leave Hanifin and Valimaki out of the deal, that might be doable from the Flames standpoint. Hard to say what Phil would think.

Let's remember a few things here:
1) The Flyers are very close to last place overall.
2) There is a statement saying all players are available, except Giroux
3) Brad "Fricken'" Treliving.
Nothing is impossible in this situation. Dream away.

The question is if this is the year to go “all in”. I would say no. Ya the Pacific is open but there are so many good teams after that. I would rather keep the core together and let our young assets to get better and contribute and have a window of 4+ years. That being said I think we need to add a good piece to take this team to another level but it has to be at the right price.

If being in first place in the conference isn’t the time to go all in when is?

LV's third line looks better with a healthy Haula centering it.
And when Ehlers is healthy, Roslovic probably slides down to the Jets' third line.
And let's add:
TOR: Brown/Kadri/Nylander
WAS: Smith-Pelly/Eller/Connolly
NAS: Fiala/Sissons/Smith
The Flames' third line is not the worst. But Bennett-Hayes-Neal would push it into the upper half of the pack.

I agree the Pacific is wide open, but that is purely to the Flames benefit.
I'm hoping it is similar to last year where the Pacific champ just cruises through the first 2 rounds and by the time they face the best from the Central, that team will have been grinded down by some tough rounds.
That being said, we need greater depth. A top 9 forward, a top 6 defenders and a potential 3rd goalie incase of the worst case scenario.

Just my opinion, I don’t think that’s close to what Couturier is worth. I would think 1st, Bennett and one of Andersson or Kylington may grab the Flyers interest.
