Saunders was on a hot streak, but his defence was still ####. Players don't turn into all-stars over night that late in their career without a syringe hanging out of their arm which he clearly isn't doing.

And the road trip started so promising !
Guess when you face back to back aces it's hard to get the offense going

The Jays just look like a beaten team right now.

The problem is they don't look capable of beating Baltimore or Boston in a one game series. Unless they turn it around fast they are done. Shouldn't this be the time Jose shows up to save the day? I could stand a few bat flips right now.

Oh, I have zero faith in the Jays beating ANYONE in a one game series. And, definitely, guys like Bautista and Donaldson need to step up or the Jays will be out of the post season picture within the next ten days.

Well, with today's awful game again, it's making managements off-season decisions incredibly easy to part with Bautista and Saunders, among others. The GM's really going to have to earn his money this year. I don't see how they'll be putting most of that money back into the team when this year it won't be paying for HR hitters, but instead going for guys with high averages. The HR ball worked last year and this year it's proven to be HR or bust and it simply hasn't worked. I still think there's value in having big bats in the lineup, but when they're not doing that, they're useless. Having said this, I see the lineup as such next year
C - Martin (no choice but to bring him back)
3B - Donaldson
SS - Tulowitzki
2B - Barney
1B - open
DH - Encarnacion
LF - Travis
CF - Pilar
RF - open
I'd also be open to dealing Travis and Pilar, and would deal Smoak for anything I could get of value in order to get guys disciplined at the plate (Travis is, but his defence is atrocious). There will be a ton of holes to fill out, and I have no idea how they do it other than getting creative with deals. Not to mention all their FA pitchers. I can't see how they retool that efficiently for a playoff run again next year. Enjoy whatever happens this fall, because we may not see the playoffs for awhile.

You left out Upton, and they just re-signed Smoak.
Moving Travis to RF isn't a bad idea either IMO. Barney's glove is solid and he's not terrible at the plate either I suppose.

I keep Travis at 2nd though if one of the young OF's are ready to make the jump next year.
SP - Sanchez
SP - Estrada
SP - Happ
SP - Stroman
SP - Liriano
BP - Grilli
BP - Biagini
CL - Osuna
Rotation looks to be built already barring trades, and three decent arms in the pen including one of the best closers out there, and two good options for a really strong set up man.
I don't know what that pay roll looks like, but hopefully they add a solid DH and like you said, it'd be great if they could upgrade Smoak.

They re-signed him for another two years earlier this year. Why I don't know. The guy is brutal.
