I don't know how Mcdavid can look at the age and composition of the team, the management, the lack of prospects and picks, and the results so far this season and think of staying, if he wants to win. He's not going to sit through a rebuild and him and Draisatl are probably good enough to prevent them picking top 5 ever.

I was just gonna say this. The writing is on the wall, and you have to think that McLotteryball and his agent likely have an exit plan if this year continues to get worse. We're almost 25 games into the season and the Oilers are barely clinging to a WC spot.
What we're currently seeing is exactly what they are: a poorly constructed team with piss-poor D and goaltending who has enough high-end talent on the top line to get past most bottom feeders and non-playoff teams. But whenever they go up against a legit playoff contender, they really seem to struggle. One thing I've noticed so far this season is that teams seem to have figured out how to defend against the Oiler PP, hence why it currently sits 22nd in the league. Not to mention how bad their PK is this year.

There is a gag worthy article claiming players are requesting to be traded to Emonton
"Edmonton Oilers general manager Stan Bowman recently shared a revealing insight during an appearance on Oilers Now with Bob Stauffer. Bowman disclosed that several player agents have approached him unsolicited, expressing their clients’ desire to play in Edmonton
With the organization’s recent playoff success and a roster led by superstars Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl, it’s easy to see why players view Edmonton as a top contender"

Any unsigned UFAs left are either on the verge of retirement, or playing with an out clause in a lesser league. Agents pretty much have to pretend they're at least trying on their client's behalf.
Maybe Bowman signs one, but loses them on re-entry waivers, LOL.

It's true. Dillon Dubé, Cal Foote, Michael McLeod, Carter Hart and Alex Formenton.

I had to skim through the recorded game last night because it was late, but I didn't realize it was actually 7-3 for Min, including Fleury's freebie at the beginning, and a garbage time goal for Edmonton. MAN are the Oilers ever stupid.

Its insane the lightning in a bottle they had caught with their PK last playoffs and even with a halfway decent 15th overall PK during the regular season. The plugs on that line up played their hearts out... and instead of noticing that, they go for Jeff Skinner, etc. Now they sit 30th in the league in PK. They almost fumbled their way to a cup and then learned NOTHING as to why they got where they did.

Legit from source close to people close to the team. They 100% believed their success on the PK was due solely to the genius of the Coffey/Knobby combo and that they could simply plug anyone into that genius and find similar success. Such is the hubris

Will be interesting to see what sort of panic trade the Oilers can muster for a goalie.
I’m a Flames fan, I’m obviously a bit biased, but I really struggle to find players / prospects that I’d actually want to trade for.
For the forwards…
The wonder-twins are untouchable. RNH and Hyman are on the downswing, 31+, and signed for 4 more years at $5 million. The rest are all either old, overpaid or unremarkable. Maybe Janmark has some value?
For the defense..
Nurse LOL. Ekholm I actually like, but I can’t imagine the oilers would trade him. Bouchard is their highest value trade piece, but I doubt the oilers would trade him either. The rest are all either old, overpaid or unremarkable.
For the goalies.. LOL.
For the prospects… yikes. It’s been a long time since I’ve had prospect envy for an Oilers prospect.
Which leaves the draft picks. If I was the Oilers GM, I’d be dangling the 2026 first unprotected to see what I’d catch. They have two years with McDavid at his peak on a value deal. Might as well go all in.
