Do they not have backups/rollbacks? Go back to the previous day?

Yeah, our VW wagon won't take a full jug either, and it annoys me to no end. Huge kudos to any manufacturer who builds their resevoir to take a full 4L jug. I love my Sierra for that.

Sounds like either they didnt let BI know that this data center switch replacement could impact their scheduled report runs, or the BI group didn't plan for a manual report run after IT was done their switch cutover?
Regarding a rollback plan on the cutover, maybe they couldn't rollback on to the old switch due to hardware failure or such?

I was told that there was going to be network outage from 6 to 8pm last night. All of my data migration/ETL and report updates occur between midnight and 7am should I shouldn't have been impacted. But nothing ever goes as planned and whatever was done yesterday has brought down my processes today. I can't even trigger a manual update because I get a server connection error. Whatever, hopefully tomorrow is a better day.

Sounds like it isn't the switch that's the issue. I always for computer stuff say that worst case scenario is to reverse what was done to get it back to where things were before.
Someone must have triggered something in the software (ie: Update or hardware recognition) that broke everything in a manner it could not be reversed.

I have been spending the weekend and part of this week trying to unpack in my new place, which currently looks like the moving truck exploded inside it.
Last night, it was about 9:27 PM, I hadn’t eaten anything for dinner, so I decided to treat myself to a Clive Burger and vanilla custard shake via Skip. I go through and put my order together, then a friend sends me a quick text which I go and respond to. Flip back to Skip, place the order and “your order is empty”.
What? What do you mean my order is empty? I can see my order, it’s right there.
Sure enough, I back out of the restaurant menu all the way, go back in, and… they’re now only delivering f—king beer. I guess their food order cut-off is 9:30 PM (which it doesn’t mention anywhere). Why in the hell would I want to order beer from Clive Burger? At least say it somewhere that there’s a separate cut-off for food and for beer, pricks.

You should call them, it might be a glitch in the system they might not even be aware of. They close at 10pm so I guess there's a cut off for food. I'm pretty sure they wouldn't just deliver beer either, that would be stupid.

You know it doesn't matter where you live or who your neighbors are. Every year the same thing. The signs come up a week ahead and always a bunch of vehicles left on the street when the street cleaners come by despite empty driveways up and down the streets.
Also when you make the mistake of picking up the phone with a telemarketer on the other side and rather than be a dick, you politely give them a moment to say their thing and then in the middle of you saying thanks but no thanks, they abruptly hang up on you. And these people wonder why nobody wants to talk to them.

I can't wait to move the car that I keep on the road just to have someone else park there anyway. Always feel like a fool when I'm out there sweeping up gravel myself because of some other ignorant twat

Why do you take the call? Unless it's work related where you might need to answer unknown numbers, I can't see any reason to answer.

The city enables this behaviour with their soft, kid gloves treatment. If they actually towed cars like they say, this would not be an issue. Have a fleet of two dozen tow trucks move in at 8:00am; then these useless twats will learn in a hurry.

To make it more efficient (and fun), the tow trucks can move the vehicles into the nearest driveway with space. Hopefully the shame they feel when their neighbours come by and ask them to get their car out of their driveway will be some good negative reinforcement.

Why are you punishing me and my empty driveway? The neighbor isn't going to curse at the city, they will curse indirectly at me.

Unrelated but it’s funny how we’ve decided as a society that twat is acceptable but a c-major isn’t.
They both cut. And mean the same thing.

I think in Britain they still use c-major. It has a different meaning then used in the US.
Words are banned based on sexism or racism and C-major and twat in England aren't gender specific.
In America, people call women specially C-major, not men. And Americans don't use twat so they haven't banned it.

I always have to stop and think wait, is it "affect" or "effect"? I should know this by now but it still trips me up.
