Disastrous weekend for AM. Red Bull looked mighty in the low downforce set up. At least Max did. Tsunoda continues the streak of 2nd driver irrelevance. Great recovery for Hadjar. Sainz must be desperate for a clean race. Albon always seems to get the better of him because of it.

I wondered if this weekend might play out a bit like Canada, and it sort of did.

Pretty sure Yuki has just 6 points from Grands Prix this year (and 6 more from sprints). Next lowest is Sainz with 13 (and the second Alpine seat at 0 of course). Yuki has just 2 points in the last 10 race weekends.

Piastri not being a drama queen when he took team orders (unlike Lando at Hungary) gave him lots of laps to try to take the position back while also being a good teammate. The impact of the swap on the WDC is not negligible but ultimately he did the right thing.
If Lando had pitted before Piastri and had the same slow stop issue causing him to end up behind Piastri, I wonder if Lando asks for a swap.

Lando is the one who suggested pitting Oscar first, not the team. IMO Lando wanted fresher tires than Oscar just to be safe. Since Lando didn't actually sacrifice the better strategy, there really shouldn't have been any reason to swap them...but I can see how the team didn't see it this way

Lando also likely wanted an extra lap or two for the slim possibility of a safety car that would have handed him a legit chance to win the race and taking a chunk out of Piastri’s lead.
I think the general principle of not undercutting your teammate is fair. At the same time, it is never completely black and white…particularly when the drivers are competing directly with each other for a driver’s championship.

Bah. Landos had to back off for Piastri as well. McLarens running a strict team game until the Constructors title is locked up. Then I believe we will things get cagey.

Completely the right call by McLaren.
Don't know that the fuss is about.

Shoot. Forgot my picks! Ah well, not like I was gunning for the podium.
And another weekend of McLaren ####tery on the pit wall.
