I know Liverpool fans aren't gonna care, but looking like it'll be a really boring run in. League title is settled, relegation teams are settled, UCL spots looking like it'll be City, Chelsea and Newcastle to grab the last three. Maybe we get an Arsenal implosion to fall out of the top five for a little drama, but looking like it'll be kind of dry.

Millwall fans doing Millwall things. Classy as always.

Quote:
Jean-Philippe Mateta, the Crystal Palace forward, was taken from the Selhurst Park pitch on a stretcher after being caught in the face by a head-high challenge from Millwall goalkeeper Liam Roberts who was sent off for the foul. Mateta appeared unconscious and received treatment for more than eight minutes before being taken to a waiting ambulance.

The Palace forward was the target of chants of “let him die” from some of the 2,800 visiting supporters that could be clearly heard on television, and BBC commentator Jonathan Pearce said: “Millwall fans are not endearing themselves to anyone with their chanting about Mateta. The football club could be revisited about that.”

They needed to VAR this to make it a red, which is almost crazier than the challenge. One of the most brutal challenges I can remember.

And yeah Millwall fans are truly in a league of their own when it comes to being complete scum. Kinda surprised they didn't find a way to work in some racism in that chant.

Of course, the ref that missed it all was…Michael Oliver.

That's Michael Oliver for you, England's best referee or so I've heard. Was in a great spot too, had a perfect view. Still needed the monitor. Wild.

And yeah, that's one of the worst challenges I've seen in a long time. They ought to throw the book at him (and Millwall for the chants).

I had such high hopes for VAR, and I still think it can be valuable, but in its current state it's simply a detriment. Oliver knows he has backup so he abdicates making a decision cause he knows VAR will do it for him. VAR was meant to augment officiating, not replace it.

There's no bigger group of scumbags in the sporting world than Millwall fans. Even their manager completely failing to be accountable and call it out after the game just sort of shrugging and saying he went for the ball and he didn't hear the chants.

Probably the most reckless challenge I've ever seen, has to be a long long suspension and the club taken up on charges for their chants after

Only good part is mateta just posting he's ok from his hospital bed, sounds like the studs mostly caught his ear but surely has a concussion.

Thankfully just one game in next 3 or 4 weeks for Palace as what a way for one of the prems top scorers to have had his career ended that would have been in a forgone conclusion game against a club that's probably league one level long run

That keeper should be suspended a long while; that was horrendous.
The club should be turfed from existence.

Smart man. Those lunatics probably know where he lives and where his kids go to school and...did I call them lunatics already? I did. So...probably a wise course of action.

Because, either way...whats he going to do about it? Those people are nuts.

As someone who has played a bit of Keeper in my later playing days I'd have gone for that ball too, but it looks outside the box (can't really tell) therefore no hands, so I'd have jumped to put the ball on my body.

Yeah, you might still clean out the player, but its a 50/50 ball, thats fair, but you do it body-to-body rather than boot-to-mind. And yeah, you might get hurt, but thats the job.

It baffles me the thought process of getting your foot that high.

I mean...what was your next plan? You're going down. You've left your net empty, you dont appear to have the protection of the 18-yard box and you're gonna be on your ass?

That was just stupid on all fronts.

That has to be one the worst things I've ever seen in football. If that isn't a lifetime ban, what is?

Oh Man U....you had Victor Lindelof take a penalty? What were you expecting?

Another nice loss at Old Trafford.

Does Lindelof have a grudge against Leno or something? Because he practically shot it right at him.
