I know, they're even blowing up schools. War crimes left and right.

Not really in this case. None of the parties in this conflict (US, Israel, and Iran) were willing to sign on to the cluster munitions ban that 112 other countries agreed to.

Have to be a gross little individual to think this is the thread to post Oil Prices, especially given the last several pages.

Did they comment make you feel better about yourself ?

Do you realize the implications of this rapid change in commodity prices? It’s not as simple as inflation bud

Oil prices are Irans weapon

It’s a measure of global economic impact and potential to trigger global recession. It’s estimated that the 2008 financial crash caused 250k excess deaths.

The price of oil is certainly relevant to the global harm this will cause and to the motivations of the US, China and Russia. In that context this is the correct place to discuss it.

Yeah this has the potential to cause a worldwide recession. The ones who will be hurt the most are the developing nations. This could be catastrophic if it lasts more than a few weeks.

Oh shut the #### up with this pretend faux virtue signaling outrage #### about oil while not even participating in the thread and commenting this.

You have to be purposedly daft to not understand the global impact of a fully destabilizing major war in the middle east as huge as this and the repercussions of skyrocketing oil prices that it will be discussed. It's front news page in almost every major news site in the world.

https://www.bbc.com/news/live/cz0g2yg3579t
https://www.cnn.com/2026/03/08/busin...war-iran-trump
https://www.dw.com/en/war-fears-lift...video-76269795

You're going to hear about it whether you personally like it or not and be heavily directly impacted by it, with it also being very relevant in the thread.

Definitely not virtue signaling and yes of course it's part of the story. The little smile emoji is what threw me off, almost a little celebratory. Might have read that wrong, oops.

Israel's strikes on 30 Iranian fuel depots Saturday went far beyond what the U.S. expected when Israel notified it in advance, sparking the first significant disagreement between the allies since the war began eight days ago, according to a U.S. official, Israeli official and a source with knowledge.
Why it matters: The U.S. is concerned Israeli strikes on infrastructure that serves ordinary Iranians could backfire strategically, rallying Iranian society to support the regime and driving up oil prices.

Driving the news: The Israeli air force's Saturday strikes created large fires in Tehran, igniting flames visible for miles and blanketing the capital in heavy smoke.
  • The IDF claimed in a statement that the fuel depots "are used by the Iranian regime to supply fuel to different consumers including its military organs."
  • An Israeli military official said the strikes were intended in part to tell Iran to stop targeting Israeli civilian infrastructure.
Behind the scenes: Israeli and U.S. officials said the IDF notified the U.S. military ahead of the strikes.
  • But a U.S. official said that the U.S. military was surprised by how wide-ranging they were.
  • "We don't think it was a good idea," a senior U.S. official said.
  • An Israeli official said the U.S. message to Israel was "WTF".
  • The White House and the IDF didn't comment.
The big picture: While the facilities that were struck are not oil production facilities, U.S. officials are concerned the footage of burning depots could spook oil markets and push energy prices even higher.
  • "The president doesn't like the attack. He wants to save the oil. He doesn't want to burn it. And it reminds people of higher gas prices," a Trump adviser told Axios.

Did the "good guys" make a miscalculation here?

(Beirut) – The Israeli military unlawfully used artillery-fired white phosphorus munitions over homes on March 3, 2026, in the southern Lebanese town of Yohmor, Human Rights Watch said today.

Human Rights Watch verified and geolocated eight images showing airburst white phosphorus munitions being deployed over a residential part of the town and civil defense workers responding to fires in at least two homes and one car in that area.

“The Israeli military’s unlawful use of white phosphorus over residential areas is extremely alarming and will have dire consequences for civilians,” said Ramzi Kaiss, Lebanon researcher at Human Rights Watch. “The incendiary effects of white phosphorous can cause death or cruel injuries that result in lifelong suffering.”

The "good guys" following the rules. Israelis who are concerned for their safety should be asking why their own government weakens protections against banned munitions by using similarly banned weapons themselves. Bibi should be in prison.
