So, the "CentreTown Helpers" has been relatively quiet during the police action. People are not going out unless they absolutely have to, so not much call for safety walks. We have a few people still delivering food, but even that has slowed to a crawl. So we have, like a couple hundred community activists on Discord just chatting, watching and waiting.

So now one idea that has come up is how we go about reclaiming the space. I thought about going to Staples, grabbing 100 boards, large sticky notes and markers. Letting people put up messages of hope, love and thanks. Both signs I took to the counter protest were signs of thanks. One side said "Thank you vaccinated truckers" and the other side said "Thank you health care workers, essential workers, teachers and Zexi" (and that was before I even met her).

One other idea was to poster every pole downtown with positive messages. They have wallpapered the downtown with messages of hate and we need to reclaim it.

I am, along with a few hundred others, still thinking on what we can do. But I am a little giddy this morning that we will soon have a chance to take back our streets.

Fun.In a finger-in-they-eye kind of way. But most of us on Discord feel the politics of this what got us into this toxic place.

I have been to the hill for protests 5 times since Trudeau was elected. Every time I go with a giant picture of Pinocchio that says "Justin Trudeau". It is an incredibly versatile protest sign. But that's not the kind of messaging we are looking for today.

I just happened to flip over to a few minutes of global morning news. Jfc what a mind blowing piece of garbage “journalism”.

The guy repeatedly mentioned how brutal police tactics are breaking up these peaceful and legal protests.

At one point he said there was a cavalry charge against protestors and from the images one would wonder what country we’re watching. I full on expected him to say nazi Germany because otherwise wtf else was he talking about.

It was hard to tell if it was a hardcore pro flutruxklan angle or just standard media sensationalism.
