Just don't come in here talking about "Canada's team" please and thanks.
There's only one place north of the border that cup can "come back" to.
Yes, I'd rather MTL than Tampa, but that likely is not happening. Tampa won't let up or let Price dismantle them.

Apparently some Vegas fans were booing their team tonight during the PP. Talk about an entitled fan base. Your team is in the final four, for how many years in a row now? Cry me a river..

At the beginning of the playoffs if someone wanted to put a large sum of money down on the Habs getting to the Stanley Cup finals I would have taken that bet. They were by far the worst regular season team to make the playoffs but credit to their commitment to playing a complete team game and simply wanting it more than their opposition. The Lightning will be their most difficult challenge but as long as they have a complete team buy-in they have a chance.
Funny thing is that regardless of what happens from here on out I will probably pencil them in to miss the playoffs next season as it's impossible to play this style of hockey for 82 games and when they don't play like this they aren't very good and the disgrace that is the North Division will not exist to bail them out.

Its fair to say that next year things will likely be much different for the Habs and that this is a cinderella run etc
But honestly, as a Flames fan, I would kill for this type of run even if it meant missing next year.

Im sorry....booing their team is now entitlement?
Did you watch it?
Any teams fans in any city in the NHL would have been letting them have it after that display.
They are running a PP of less than 10%...if that was the Flames doing it at home you wouldn't hear the broadcasters over the TV for all the jeering that would be occurring.
What did MacLean say last night?
Over 32 minutes of 5 on 4 without a goal now? That is a level of bad rarely seen at any time in this league, nevermind at the most crucial time of the year.

Absolutely especially seeing the Flames missed the playoffs this year and are certainly not guaranteed to make the playoffs next season.

They're rolling 4 lines, they've got buy-in from everyone on the team. Contributions across the lineup from the 20 year olds to the 36 year olds. All world goaltending from Price. And they're doing it right now without the head coach to boot. Remarkable.

Go Habs Go! I hate seeing Vegas have any success. The league gifted them a great team and they don't deserve the immediate success they have achieved. It pisses me off that they didn't have to experience any growing pains, and adversity, and have a deep team and system right out of the gate. #### them. As much as I hate Montreal they at least built the team right and experienced a lot of bumps along the way. They looked at their team and recognized the weaknesses in the lineup, then went out and addressed them by adding the likes of Anderson, Toffoli, Perry, and then Staal. Good on them and I hope they take out Vegas then the Tampa Cheaters.

I'm happy for you Habby, they sure look like they were built for the playoffs.

Danault might be the MVP of the forwards and has 2 whole points in the playoffs. Crazy.

Agree with everything except the bolded.
The league didnt make them instant contenders, spineless and stupid GM's league wide and very very astute hockey men in George McPhee and Kelly Macrimmon did all that for them.
No idea why most of those guys thought it best to spend assets and players to protect other players was a good idea. Just lose a player and move on. Like every other expansion draft in history. Not most of this group though...no way. All had to be the smartest in the room this time.

I had no idea how good he was defensively. Maybe the best in the game actually. If he had any sort of offensive acumen he would be a perrenial Selke guy if he plays like he has throughout the playoffs.

Fun fact: MTL still has 11 picks in this years draft (extra 2nd and 3rd, two extra 4ths).
I'm not convinced it will be that hard for MTL to make playoffs next year.
BUF and DET are out, so it's really 5 or 6 teams for 4 spots:
TBL/BOS - unlikely but not inconceivable that they fall out
TOR/MTL/FLA - hard to feel particularly confident in any of them
OTT - longshot, but who knows

That backcheck by Stone on the Caufield goal was "Controller Disconnected" level of bad.

Is it weird that I'm kind of rooting for Vegas to come back and win this series, even though I hate the Knights? Just purely wishing playoff hardship on other Canadian teams LOL

Yeah the Knights management team doesn't get enough credit for fleecing several NHL GM's as they were playing chess against fellow GM's playing checkers. The rest was good fortune with several young players blossoming into solid NHL players. The league only made it possible for astute management to build a solid roster from scratch and the rest still required nearly flawless execution by the Knights.

I don’t want a VGK/TBL series, so with Tampa Bay likely heading to the final spot I would rather it be Montreal that makes it through.

Yeah, I think that McFee and MacCrimmon did a great job at the expansion draft, but I don't believe for a second that even they thought they had assembled a perrenial contender. After the draft, there was nearly universal agreement that VGK was a marginal team on paper rostered by nothing more than 2nd/3rd liner and pairs. They got exceedingly lucky in how a good number of those players turned out, and that is something no one saw coming.
