I’d really like to see the Flames come out with a heavier third period. Ferland and Hathaway need to start leaning on some Oilers and give some space to Johnny and Mony.

Because like I said, he’s top 5 in scoring and makes risky passes like that all the time. The riskier the pass, generally the higher quality chance his teammates get. The problem is if it goes back the other way it’s likely to be a good chance the other way. He probably thought he could make that pass. You live by the sword and you die by the sword.

It’s not the cross ice pass though, it’s the situation in which he does it.

Late in a shift, both him and Monahan are gassed, and your defense and other winger are changing.

No issue with that play if all the guys on the ice are early in a shift, but when everyone is tired and in need of a change you need to make a better decision.
