Just donated $100.
Terrible to see all the pictures and videos from Fort McMurray. Thinking of all those displaced by the fire and especially those who have lost everything.

Much like surfer guy Im not in a position but I have 49ers seasons tickets and I will sell one of either the Bucs/49ers game on Oct. 23rd or Saints game on Nov. 6th home games and 100% of the sale will go to the Red Cross. Tickets are in section 420 Row 21 seats 1-2 on the aisle, nice little football get away for someone without having to fork out stubhub prices! Cost of my tickets are $85 usd. per ticket so for fun lets just call it $200 canadian for the pair

Just spoke with Slava and we have agreed to terms. Thanks for stepping up CJ but unfortunately your CP addiction was not quite as strong as Slavas.

The Red Cross is prepared for emergencies before they happen. They have contracts in place and supplies ready for fast transport. When a disaster happens they deploy their existing supplies immediately rather than wait for money to come in to help. Credit card donations can take two months before the Red Cross actually gets the money.
In effect, each disaster is funded by the previous disaster and the money they raise funds the one after that.
It is the only realistic way for them to provide a timely response.

Exactly this.
If anyone's on the fence about Redcross donations being kept local, just assume our donations for the 2013 flood are being paid forward into Fort Mac this week.

Heh, just struck by how a community of Flames fans are helping those affected by the fanned flames in Fort McMurray. Well done everyone!

Here's a good representation of the current fire size.

Unbelievable. #ymmfire via @BryanPassifiume: For perspective, here’s roughly 85KHa overlaid over #yyc #ABfire

You made me realized how cheap I was being by being out donated by your 11 and 14 year old.
I tripled my original donation and now are crushing them- how do they like them apples?
