How I see the lineups looking like too. That third pairing LW spot is between Shinkaruk and Korpikoski right now IMO.

Really cant see Shinkaruk on the shutdown line. Maybe Bouma on the 3rd line with Backs and Frolik. So hathaway or vey cracking the 4th line ?

Yeah, Shinkaruk seems like he needs to play in the top six to stay with the team. So I'd either slot him in with Johnny & Mony or send him down to Stockton (assuming Tkachuk stays with the team past 9 games).

Do we have any injuries? Obviously Monahan but I assume he will be fine for next week.

Monahan is supposed to be playing tonight against the Canucks. Other than that were good I think..... as I'm knocking on wood.
Edit: Prybl I guess?

Ferland or Shinkaruk could be interchangeable in my mind. I put Shinkaruk there because he could add some offensive jam on that line. He would also not be on special teams in this case.

Gaudreau-Monahan-Yakupov
Tkachuk-Bennett-Brouwer
Ferland-Backlund-Frolik
Bouma-Stajan-Chiasson
(Hamilton)
Giordano-Brodie
Jokipakka-Hamilton
Engelland-Wideman
(Kulak)
Elliott
Johnson
But in all seriousness, if Tkachuk and Bennett play to their potential, we have a very decent top 6
Gaudreau-Monahan-?
Tkachuk-Bennett-Brouwer
With Backlund and Frolik looking on, not far away.

This is my prediction for the starting lineup on Wednesday. Maybe Shinkaruk in Gaudreau's place if he doesn't sign.

Doesn't Frolik typically play RW? Any reason you put him on the left side and Hamilton on the right?

If the worst happens and Gaudeau doesn't have a contract to start the season how do people think that changes things?
Monahan is our number one center, do you put him with two plugs and leave the T-B-B line together?
Does he push Bennett to the wing and Tkachuk drops to a third line with Hamilton/Bouma and Ferland?
I am leaning towards something like
Tkachuk-Bennett-Brouwer
Bouma-Monahan-Ferland
Frolik-Backlund-Chaisson
Stajan-Hamilton-Hathaway
It hampers Monahan's production and I think relys on Johnny signing quickly.
Curious what others think?

Frolik can play either wing just fine. I would trust him more on his strong wing than I would Hamilton on his off-wing.

With the pre-season games over, I'm leaning towards these lines:
Gaudreau - Monahan - Shinkaruk
Tkachuk - Bennett - Brouwer
Ferland - Backlund - Frolik
Bouma - Stajan - Hamilton
Hathaway
Chiasson
Gio - Brodie
Kulak - Hamilton
Jokipakka - Wideman
Engelland
I have Shinkaruk in the top spot to see if he can develop some more chemistry with Gaudreau and Monahan. I also think Ferland is better suited for that shutdown 3rd line, but if he can start making better passes in the offensive zone I'll consider him for top line duties.
Kulak has done nothing but impress me for a full calendar year now, I think he can bring some more steady play to the 2nd pairing than Jokipakka can. Honestly he always makes the right decisions in the defensive zone and makes it look easy.

Unfortunately I do not see the Flames waiving Bollig given his AAV. He is also the easiest to have sit in press box much of the season (most others need playing time much more for development). His muscle will be required against some heavier competition on occasion. So think Hathaway is the odd man out despite his effort.
Bouma/Shinkaruk/Ferland/Chiasson are the four wingers that float between lines at 1RW, 3LW, 4LW and 4RW until one or more start to click with linemates.
F. Hamilton will end up in press box with fewer games played as a centre unless injury.
Hathaway first winger/Jankowski first C/ and Wotherspoon first D call-ups from Stockton.
Vey/Klimchuk/Poirier/Culkin/Kylington/Gillies will likely all get a cup of coffee some time during season.

Tkachuk - Bennett - Brouwer
Ferland - Monahan - Shinkaruk
Bouma - Backlund - Frolik
Bollig - Stajan - Hamilton
Hathaway
Chiasson
Gio - Brodie
Wideman - Hamilton
Engelland- Jokipakka
Kulak
Chiasson/Ferland are interchangeable. Wideman will probably quickly fall out of favor and switch with Jokipakka.
Gross.

Predicting:
Shinkaruk-Monahan-Chiasson
Tkachuk-Bennett-Brouwer
Ferland-Backlund-Frolik
Bouma-Stajan-Hamilton
Bollig
Gio-Brodie
Jokipakka-Hamilton
Engelland-Wideman

I'm hoping that JG signs and Kulak steps in for Wideman, but knowing the Flames I expect the worst.
