So, some deadlines *are* deadlines, and some deadlines aren't? Interesting.

We only had 13 people in round 1 without any problem, so why do we now keep extending the deadline?

Don't get me wrong - me missing the deadline last round was my fault. I waited too long to change, and the website decided to go all clunky taking minutes to load pages and replies right at the 6 PM deadline. I tried to get in under the wire, but I waited too long.

Do you get one of those single page adds and have to hit the back button? Really a pain in my butt.

I've never got the single page ad, but it was suddenly taking Chrome relatively forever to load pages and tabs, when it had been working fine all day. Frustrating, but my own fault for trying to time things so finely.

Just random thinking here...
I do understand that in order for the game to be more about making the right decisions, and not about who is available to spend time on CP, it is nice to have some flexibility about making sure people can actually play other than get screwed by deadlines.
However, in this round particularly, if you get to make your pick of your order after everyone and have gathered some information which allows you make a better pick (for example, if I talk to 5 people and they all tell me they are taking Nachos, then maybe I would like to take another option to help me get a chance of more points) and I wait until after the deadline to submit, then I am so much more certain that my choice is based on the best information. If someone submitted their order last night because they knew they would not be on before 9:30 this morning, they would have made a decision that might not be optimal in terms of the game, but ensured that they met the deadline.
Obviously we need to have deadlines, or the game will take forever, so at some point the line needs to be drawn.

I am completely comfortable with Girly's benevolent dictatorship when it comes to deadlines.

But you can change your order as much as you want until the first deadline, or maybe I am misreading what you are saying.
If I place my order at 11pm last night then talk to some people, I can change it any way I want until 9:30am. After 9:30am you can only change your box for the guess on the amount of people that picked your item.

I think Rathji is saying is that you might have to make the order last night because you don't have time this morning before 9:30am, while others might be able to make a better decision ordering at say 9:15am.
There really is no perfect solution as it would be nearly impossible to co-ordinate 14 people's schedules. It's just something that each player has to manage themselves. Although I will say I am starting to try and keep my Mondays and Tuesdays free of meetings.

Yeah, that's right.
Obviously not entirely sure of the rules this round after joining in halfway through...
Pretty much disregard most of my post, it was mostly just talking for the sake of random discussion, as I have no issues with whatever Girly decides on this. It is a huge time commitment on her part, and with great responsibility comes great power.
