Holy moly, look at the praise Martina Navratilova gives Bouchard!
Quote:
"That was very impressive," applauded Navratilova in an interview with Kate Battersby of wimbledon.com. "She showed very great composure mentally, rising to the occasion. I like everything – she showed great shot selection and held up well under pressure, she has a technically sound game and she constructs points well. If she continues like this she will be top 20 at least by the end of the year. I don't want to say a star is born but we have seen a potential Grand Slam champion here."
we both know smart money is on him getting straight setted next round, or retiring/withdrawing. the surprise of any titanic upset is balanced out by the assuredness of the Cinderella story ending a couple days after. not bitter at him at all, in fact I wish one of these no name guys would actually take advantage of their opportunity, but it just never happens.
Can't ever forget Goran's miracle run in 01, though Brown would be so much greater than that. But obviously its wide ass open for him or anyone to make a run there, and if the wildness continues and somehow Murray gets bounced it could be anyone's run to the Semi Finals.

it's already a run to the semifinals (one of those 8 men listed above will be a semifinalist). If Murray falls, it would be a massive run to the final!

I have zero confidence in Milos getting above this level. I think this is his plateau unfortunately, good enough to make a few grand slam QFs, not good enough to compete with the best.

Milos didn't win enough points off his 1st serve - 77%. Not good enough.
He looks awkward on slow surfaces that don't offer much in the way of traction, like clay and grass. He's much more dangerous on hard courts.
With his ability to rack up free points on his serve as well as nailing forehand winners, he would have done much better at Wimbledon 15 years ago when the courts were much quicker. He'd have still had difficulty with some footwork but he would have gone deeper into the tournament due to his serve. Sadly for him, this isn't the case any longer.

They mentioned during the telecast that Federer also had a spot where he hit a wall. Milos' issues are all mental right now. Hopefully his new coach can work him through them.
