That is a little bit like the classic argument:

Oilers won against the Canucks, and the Canucks won against the Blackhawks, so the Oilers must therefore be better than the Blackhawks!

Inter-league matchups are a bad barometer because it's rare that you get an accurate depiction of a teams' abilities. When the result counts for less than nothing (other than pride) all sorts of funny things can happen.

Each of these leagues have produced impact players over the years and I'd say each of them has different advantages. The NCAA really suits the kind of prospect Jankowski is, because it is universally acknowledged that the kid needs a few years of development. I hope he's hitting the weights and protein shakes hard in the offseason!

Don't forget about me!!

With Jones and the rest of the Lettermen, Jank will feel right at home when he goes pro, maybe before his Senior year if he sees a place in Calgary where he fits in. I wonder how many NCAA products are we are going to go after?? Is Bob Hartley Canada's version of Herb Brooks? I'm really curious what grand scheme Weisbrod has cooked up for us Calgary folk.

What if we somehow end up with Kessler? ugggggg

Here are the Dates when the Friars are playing closest to us in Cowtown I think.

01/17/14 at Colorado College Colorado Springs, Colo. 9:37 p.m.
01/18/14 at Colorado College Colorado Springs, Colo. 9:07 p.m.

I agree the results aren't something to be relied upon but they are the only stats we have and they aren't a one off as they play these games every season so I thought they would be interesting.

As for the rest, I'm aware of the different leagues and each leagues advantages.

Hockey This Morning on NHL Sirius XM from a few weeks ago mentions the Jankowski pick around 6 minutes in, while interviewing Dan Marr from Central Scouting.

Can you elaborate a little bit?

He said that at the start of his draft year they had Jankowski ranked near the top of the third round, and by the end of the year they had him near the top of the second round. He also went on to say that Jankowski had a pretty good freshman year at Providence. Sounded to me like the Flames didn't go that much off the board when they picked him.

I thought we are going to be watching Jankowski work out but that's even better. Sorry I was so focus on her you know what that I don't remember her workout already

Anyways, from what I heard Jankowski is very in to fitness now so that's good. Maybe we will see him on Flames uni in a couple of years.

What is the target this year in terms of ppg for him to be on track with his development. .8 to 1 ppg?

Just my opinion but I'd set the bar at 0.75PPG. Anything less and I'll be disappointed and anything more I'll be pleased.

I still think the Flames should have picked Malcolm Subban. If he's anything like his brother you know he'll make the NHL. Now we don't have a goalie, just more prospects. Time will tell.

I think alot will depend on the development of his teammates too. It is unfair to just use some arbitrary number to determine success. If the Friars continue to be focuses primarily on defense and not scoring goals then it will be difficult for any of their players to look really good offensively.

my hopes this year:
- he actually plays Center
- he centers the top line
- he scores at a 0.75 clip or higher

I actually might want to watch some of these games live this year with 3 of our picks. Have they streamed any live action before?

Jon Gillies is a better prospect than Subban IMO
