Eight game-star selections in 18 playoff games for Baertschi so far:
Five 1st Star: 27 Mar, 6 Apr, 20 Apr, 4, 6 May
Two 2nd Star: 23 Mar, 7 Apr
One 3rd Star: 29 Mar
* On an unrelated note, whoever was doing game-star selections in Kamloops is an unqualified homer! In three games in that series, Kamloops won two by single-goal margins (5–4; 7–6), and lost the third 5–2, and yet somehow 7/9 star selections in those games were Kamloops players!

So he has been the first star in in approximately 30% of the Portlands playoff games. It's hard not to be extremely excited about Baertschi.

God I don't want to let myself get excited about this guy. Watching him last night was such a foreign feeling as a Flames fan.
For the past 20 years, watching world juniors and all sorts of other things, you watch players dominate and invariably they are all some other teams property. We always had the semi-good player or the player with a deep flaw or is small. The only time I can remember that feels close is watching Jarome in the World juniors. I also remember he wasn't THAT dominating, thought he wasn't all that fast.
I think Jaromes best asset was his world class athleticism, where Sven oozes the skill and hockey sense.
He has such a puck confidence that I don't ever remember a Flame prospect having, if there is such a thing. Butter soft hands and fast. Maybe his only knock will be being overly fancy. Fata I'll take that.
It may be hyperbole, but I would argue that the Flames have never had a prospect who has this all around top end skill. Fleury and Iginla would be next.
To add to this point, there is only one other Flames prospect I know of that has just about as much "puck confidence" (or poise with the puck) as Sven, and that player is Reinhart.
I've been able to watch him live now three times and I cannot believe how confident and poised he is with the puck. He looks more confident with the puck than some of the players who have been in the AHL for years.

Just updated stats for Sven with how many times he's been a game star (Thanks Textcritic), AND, he was named WHL Player of the week again! I want Flames to start again, even if they lose, I just want to see people to get excited about...
