The thing with Grigorenko and Galchenyuk though is that they are Americanized so I highly doubt they bail to go play in Russia.
Looking at the standings, even if we suck hard to end the year (which we won't, then we'll miss the playoffs by 1 or 2 points), we'd have to suck worse than like 6 teams just to get lucky and pick about 6th or 7th (where Galchenyuk will go I think). No way do we play worse than the teams below us.
I think we end up getting Gaunce if we do decide to go for a center over BPA.

Being born and raised in the U.S. will do that to ya. Galchenyuk is pure American.

I would think a package of Berglund, Rattie and Shatternick might get it done. Iggy and Nemisz for those 3.
A line of SVen- Berglund- Rattie would be pretty sweet in a couple years.
Now that i look at it i doubt we could get that package.

You mean Shattenkirk? If so...no chance they're moving him, him and Pietrangelo are going to be the backbone of that team for years.

Friday night, only one point (power play goal) and a -3 rating for Sven in the Winterhawks' 6-4 win over Tri-City. He is now two points off the 2 PPG pace, with 88 points in 45 games.
It was a good week for the Hawks. They went into the week in third place, but with wins over the two teams that were ahead of them, Kamloops and Tri-City, they are now alone in first overall in the WHL with 8 games remaining in the season.
Their week isn't over yet, though, as they have a pair of afternoon home games this weekend. Today against Seattle and tomorrow against Tri-City.

Portland Vs. Seattle tonight. 'Hawks should dominate tonight. I'm hoping for another 3 point performance from Sven, who is easily the most exciting thing going on with the Flames right now.

Let's see if Sven can top Byron Ritchie's 50g-76a-126pts in 63 games or Darren McCarty's 55g-72a-127pts in 65 games.

Haha this exactly. I try to not get too excited about Sven because when I do I see him turning into a our next franchise forward, but in reality he could turn into Ales Hemsky lite. Consider me cautiously optimistic.

Did you have a hard time finding someone in this era?,the CHL is 10x more competitive these days than 15-20 years ago....much harder to score.
Keep searching!

Both of those guys were overagers when they had their breakthroughs
McCarty in his 20 year old season and third season, Ritchie was in his fourth season and his over age season.
Over age players tend to do very well in their last year of Juniors because they can physically dominate and they have the experience.
Your comparison makes no sense and thus your buzzkill statement is silly.
Call me next year if Sven is playing in the WHL and averages 3 points a game.

But Darren McCarty would have already scored a goal, an assist and had a fight by this time in the game.

I want Sven to turn into our next all star forward as much as anyone. He is one of the few bright spots in our prospect pool. I just don't think people should get too crazy with their expectations yet. And the examples I posted were just former Flames...

Who here is getting too crazy?
I don't think anyone is superhyping the kid as the next NHL wonderkind.
I think we're shocked that we have three prospects in what could be their last year running roughshod on the WHL stats wise and not just leading their teams in hits or plus minus like the last bunch of prospect.
We are allowed to enjoy some things Flames, we don't have to be grimm and depressed about everything.

Is that . . . is that soccer?
Because that sport on a whole depresses me.

But,but I honestly can see a 600g/1300pt career in Sven!
Seriously, I may have missed a few posts in this thread but as far as I know nobody is expecting the next Crosby. It's just been a long time since the flames had a prospect that dominates the way Sven does.
Put it this way,Nail Yakupov is exactly one year younger than Sven, he's now(like Sven) in his second NA season and more than likely will go #1 in this years draft. Yet he isn't putting up the points that Sven is.

Portland Winterhawks @pdxwinterhawks Sven brought it in, faked a pass and fired it past Pickard. Tell you what, he keeps at it, the kid might have a future in this game.
I like the sounds of that
