Are there different character packs? I bought one at Co-Op and it didn't have this one.

^^ Excel spreadsheet of the Top 4500 beers in the world, sorted by rating.
For a beer party last year, I used the Beer locator to add some data on where the top ones could be found in Calgary. (Scroll to the right in the spreadsheet)
http://www.alberta-liquor-guide.com/...n?OpenFrameset
I liked the Rochefort Trappistes 8 myself (ranked #21 in the world), it's available at Co-Op Dalhousie and other places.
The Tripel Karmeliet is also really good in my opinion and should be readily available.
I also had a Scottish beer called Innis & Gunn Oaked Aged beer at Rasoi Kitchen in Marda Loop that was really good (ranked #325 on the list). It was a speciality beer though, not sure if they carry it all the time. Can probably find it in some of the better liquor stores.

Duvel - it's a Belgian Golden Strong Ale, available at Highlander (and many other places).
I made a home-brewed copy of it which is really tasty, easy to drink, and will eff you up. Roughly 9% ABV.
I'm also a big fan of Samuel Smith's Oatmeal Stout, esp. this time of year.

You were bang on - thanks again. They've got four fewer there now, but still quite a few left at the 16th Avenue Highlander. $5.75 for a 750 ml bottle. Not a bad liquor store at all.

Timely thread as I usually like to find some different beers for the holiday period.
For those of you heading to Highlander, note the website stock is what's available at the 16th ave store and results will vary at Richmond. I found several of the same brands at Richmond but Viru was not one of them. The helpful lady at the store mentioned the inventory link was with 16th ave, and also not to waste my time going to Marda Loop as they don't have a cooler. Thought I'd pass on the tip.
Now if anyone had found Bohemia Escura, the dark Brazilian beer, in town you'll be my new best friend. When I had that down in Brazil it was like manna from heaven.

You don't need to go to a taphouse to do it!! I made it at home, just have to have a big enough glass to fit two beers so that you can pour the velvet fog properly.
By the way ever since I had a keg party with Velvet Fog, recommended by CP, I am loving WR, all flavours even the IPA has grown on me, so nice to taste fresh beer

A useful site for locating a lot of these is: www.alberta-liquor-guide.com.
No luck finding your beer though FF

Co-op Market in the Beltline has a massive selection of awesome beers including six packs of nearly all the Unibrou beers (just tried Trois Pistoles the other day... epic and highly recommend it).
Also grabbed a six pack of Rogue breweries "Santa's Private Reserve". One of the best beers I've ever had.

Anyone know where I can find this? Preferrably in Deadmonton, but Calgary's fine too. Had it in Cuba last year, awesome stuff, very smooth. I can't find it anywhere up here.

Cristal is basically Canadian, IIRC it is made by Molson too.
Get some Kokanee or Canadian.

Actually??? It's made by Molson?? What a letdown.
I got no probs with Kokanee, but I thought Cristal tasted 100 times better than Canadian. I'd rather drink my own pi$$ than that swill.
EDIT: Are you sure? I'm just looking it up now and don't see anything about Molson brewing it. Not saying I disagree, just can't find anything about it.

Compania Cervecerias Unidas is its own brewer, but has agreements with Heineken and Guinness, among others.
