So is there still warrior button mashing? I'm not getting the single/duel hand combat. I'm worried that it may be too hard, and I'll just quit. Then out of complete depression because I can't play the game I'll eat 10 000 doughnuts and gain 50 pounds; nobody wants that to happen to themselves. So I'm sure you all understand my fear... Although with a mouse it might just be right and left click so all this bitching and moaning could be all for not. Well I feel better now.

Your right trigger is your right hand, your left trigger is your left hand. Use both triggers to use both hands together.

Doesn't seem too difficult for me.

Yes, because I have to use my index fingers or maybe even my middle fingers to press all the triggers while at the same time using my left thumb on the analog stick which also has to move to press directions on the d-pad while my right thumb has to control the right analog stick while pushing the main buttons. Then both thumbs also have to push the analog sticks in while your index fingers may or may not be holding down a trigger or both. Horrible contortions Batman! We've got to elect Sarah Palin on a platform of outlawing controllers on the basis of causing irreparable ergonomic damage to the hands of American children.

But seriously, when each thumb has to control 360 degrees of motion, at angles from 30-90° and also and 5 buttons to be pushed including the analog sticks which are also buttons...it's out of control. We evolved to use 10 fingers. Controllers waste most of them. Consoles are a vast conspiracy orchestrated by the Illuminati to turn the next generation of children into Simpsons characters.

So my sister pre-ordered this for my birthday. I have never played Oblivion, will I need to so I can follow the story of this one?

I doubt it if you've played other RPGs before. The story line doesn't really carry over much between installments in the series.

I'd recommend playing it though just because it's a fantastic game, and if you like RPGs at all, you'll probably enjoy it.

Before you start playing either Skyrim or Oblivion, the one odd quirk you should familiarize yourself with is the is the leveling system. I'm not sure how much they'll change it between Skyrim and Oblivion, but it'd probably be worth familiarizing yourself with the Oblivion system before playing either game. If you don't take advantage of the easy +5 attribute modifiers early in the game, the end of the game can get pretty hard.

Here's an explanation on the Oblivion wiki:
http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Leveling

That wiki in general is very thorough and in-depth, and is a great resource, and I'd recommend consulting it often, particularly if you're new to Elder Scrolls.

In general, if you choose combat-based skills as your majors, you're fine.

That would explain why my acrobatics/stealth characters never worked out!

But my Wood Elf ran so fast, I could back pedal long enough to heal myself, swap hits, and keep back pedaling.

Alas, my meagre PC likely would not be able to handle Skyrim. On the bright side, it's made me think about Morrowind, which I've never finished. Time to load it up (again).

If you preorder from FS, you get a Skyrim Steelbook for free:

http://www.futureshop.ca/en-CA/produ...39803bd9ccen02

Also, I have heard pre orders get a high quality "burlap style" map of Skyrim, not just the regular paper map.

Prior to this I had always been a PC gamer, but my PC is out of date and the thought of playing this game hunched over at my desk for hours on end does not make my back happy, so I will be purchasing this game on PS3. I have 3 PS3 games in my library, and the last time I played one was probably 2009. But this game will get a lot of playtime, I have no doubt.

Elder scrolls and Civilization games are basically the only games I do play. Good thing I picked two of the most time consuming franchises in gaming!

I was never able to get into Oblivion on my PS3. The controls always felt too wonky to me. I much prefer the WASD+click controls that the PC offers.

Plus the modding for the PC version is a huge bonus.
