I'm in that same boat which has been echoed a few times throughout this thread that the first movie was pretty good but that the second one was one huge catastrophe from start to finish. I don't want to even re-visit the scarring memories of that kick in the balls movie, so I won't, because watching it made my eyes bleed.

I'm not sure how Michael Bay took something pretty decent and in one foul swoop transformed (haha) the franchise into the most epic disappointment of all time. To be fair to Michael Bay, the script he was working with was apparently written by a series of chimps on typewriters, but the fact of the matter is that posting however many X millions of dollars a movie brings in the door is not necessarily correlative to a quality movie. Transformers: Revenge of the Scriptwriters is a classic example of this being the case. It made money based on the success of its predecessor alone. Period.

Transformers 2 was so punishing to its audience, that it gave fans of Indiana Jones' latest installment some fodder to say "see? It's not as bad as THAT movie". I honestly do wonder if Michael was at least somewhat trying to make a poop sandwich.

So, because of that abortion, it's REALLY tough to get onboard and go watch this next movie in the franchise. For the love of everything, I hope its creators at least have mercy this time.

Uhhhh? The movie grossed 400 million dollars domestically. More than the original.

How is it a disappointment? As I've stated, as far as fans go they're quite happy with it. It is obviously attracting more than just fans, so that's good. The only people who don't like it are the critics. Would the critics liking it be nice? Yeah sure, but I am not going to lose sleep over it.

Edit - And as I pointed out earlier, the movies have completely re-energized the entire Transformers brand.

I've never even seen Indiana Jones 4.

Raiders of the Lost Ark is in my top five movies of all-time. The other two (ToD, LC) are also great films in one way, or another.

Knowing how hated Indy 4 is by long time fans, I am pretty sure my childhood would be forever scarred if I witness some of the crap I have heard. Aliens alone being in an Indiana Jones movie is just insane, and ruins much of the integrity Indiana Jones once had. I know Spielberg loves to throw aliens in everything he does, but Indiana Jones is about mythology, archeology, and the occult. Not aliens!

I just wonder how Spielberg will include aliens into the Abraham Lincoln movie he is doing. Probably going to throw in a twist that John Wilkes Booth was an alien conspirator who had to bump off Lincoln, as they were behind slavery; and the conspirators needed those slaves to build their intergalactic spaceships in order to destroy the planet.

What happened to Spielberg? He is just another hack these days too. A more talented one, but what he did to Indiana Jones is unforgivable.

Why did they have to bring Shia Lebeouf back? He's the worst part of these movies. His rapid fire dialogue is so annoying that like a virus it ruins every movie he stars in. Another thing that really bothered me about that last Transformers movie was the over-the-top comic levity. Any scene with the parents (especially the mother who inexplicably goes crazy after eating a pot brownie) was painful enough, but then they decide to throw in a goofy roommate, two ######ed bot twins, and a moronic ex-secret-whatever agent and I simply couldn't wait for it to end. Throw in an incomprehensible plot and you have the worst blockbuster film that I've has the displeasure of seeing in a while.

I'm not so sure about this. It did well in the box office sure, but you pay your money before you actually see the film. Everyone that I talked to that saw it agreed that the film was a flaming pile of @#$%

Listen, we get it, you love Transformers and you love the two new movie. Most of us think they suck, but that's okay, you're allowed to like bad movies. We all have that bad movie that we totally love... but for the love of everything holy we you please stop using box office numbers as proof it's a good movie, it just means it was well hyped and alot of people saw it.

I saw it in the theater and I hated it, what does that prove?

I am not taking that stance of "It's a good movie, guys! Why don't any of you like it!?" I know why you don't.

My problem is the "It's killed the franchise. Bay has killed transformers!" cries when he obviously hasn't. You could argue that because of the Bay films the Transformers brand is bigger than it has ever been before. I posted the monetary amount to show that people went out to see it, which probably means the franchise isn't dead.
