Sorry, I should have clarified. I don't mean during slippery conditions. I mean when the roads are dry, like in the summer. My mom does this, and it annoys the hell out of me when I'm in her car. She'd pump the brakes while she's stopping and endd up being too far back and then need to inch forward.
Yea I figured that's what you were talking about. It just reminded me of bad conditions and leaving a space to have "an out". The creeping thing is odd, and very annoying. My aunt does that, well plus she uses the two foot driving method which I think is absolutely dangerous.
Same thing for advancing too far into an intersection when waiting to make a left.. it doesn't make things easier on you. If you hung back you actually have the time to build up some momentum for when you actually want to go.
i've noticed quite a few drivers driving on the wrong side of the road in parts of east downtown like 3 st e and 6 ave. i know it's hard to see the yellow line, but you'd think the parked cars facing the opposite way they're going would be a hint.
I did that on Saturday night, and felt pretty damn stupid too. I rarely drive downtown and turned left into a one way. With all the snow covering the lane lines, I never noticed it until I went in. Thankfully I noticed it right away and got out of there easily, my face a deep shade of red.
My money is on you being the worst 'It's never my fault' kind of driver on here.
You rant about the OP not being aware and you weren't even there to assess the situation. Nice.
I have watched a few guys on this board over the years bitch and moan about how everyone around them is a sub par driver in comparison to themselves. I have always bit my tongue, until now. Then Greenteafrapp calls me out calling me a hypocrite, of course I am going to back up my statements with what I know.
And as far as street driving goes, I don't see all of these problems that these other guys do. I keep my distance and obey the rules and stay within 10 of the limit. Driving in Calgary is not hard, and does not require any special skills. If you are constantly in these types of situtations, and constantly complaining you are probably driving too agressive.
My parents managed, I'm sure you could to. Its better to take the extra 10 seconds and load them both on the passenger side. I thought you had a van so whats the issue?
I don't have a van. And no, it isn't possible.

Well I guess thats the risk you take. I said something after watching a lady unload her kid at daycare on an icy corner. There were cars sliding everywhere and it sure didnt look like the brighest idea.

You definitely need to use your head as to where you park.

A few years back I turned onto a one way street and was going the wrong way. I noticed right away and quickly turned into a back alley. This one guy rolled down his window and let go a long spew about how eff'n stupid I was. How eff'n this and eff'n that.
I thought. Sheesh.. I made a mistake. Friggin relax.
How many people have never turned the wrong way on a one way street? I assume it has happened to most people. Not all but most.
In the winter, I just avoid driving at almost all costs. Besides, when the weather is cold I drink Whiskey, and the only thing that goes better than jamming and Whiskey, is a taxi home.
I actually drove today and didn't find it too bad, but seeing as I hate winter driving (unless its 4x4ing off-road, then its awesome) I think I'll do you all a favor and just refrain.

Today I saw a guy get screwed by the lights on 58th Ave SW right near Long & McQuade. It's that fata'd up double intersection which leaves enough room for two small cars if you get caught. This guy was driving a jacked-up F-350 hauling a flatbed trailer with a bob-cat on it. So the poor guy gets caught covering the crosswalk. Kind of annoying, but no big deal really, as everyone can see me walking around the back of it so I'm not worried about somebody missing me and hitting me.
Some SOB on the other side of the road takes it upon himself to walk around the truck to the drivers window and knock on it before proceeding to absoluetly lose it on the driver! I mean to the point where I thought blood vessels were going to be burst. The driver graciously let the guy vent before flipping him the bird and rolling up his window, but I was thinking the whole time that the driver was seriously going to pull out a gun or taser and let the old bashtard have it.
It wasn't his fault he was towing a large trailer with a large vehicle and got caught at one of the biggest screw-ups in road planning/construction history.

Thanks, I tried it about 10 times before it finally worked.
Copy/past of the end for some reason doens't seem to work, but when I go back in and kinda reformat it, it does work.
Weird.

I’m always amazed these sportscasters and announcers can call the game with McDavid’s **** in their mouths all the time.

The other thread got jacked by mechanics and physics professors, and the last driving thread is a year old, so here's a new place to rant about crappy drivers, passengers, and pedestrians.
This morning I was driving down a narrow residential street with cars parked on either side, and plenty of un-plowed snow. Just as I was passing a car going the opposite direction, some dumb bitch in a parked minivan about one car length in front of me opened her driver's door and got out of the vehicle. I SLAMMED on the brakes while she went deer-in-headlights and stared at me bearing down on her. My truck stopped about two feet from her...feet.
People, don't be ignorant. Look in your mirror before swinging your door open and jumping out on the street. Doesn't matter that I'm only going 10kph, it's a fricken pickup truck on snow. It's gonna slide. Think about your safety before leaping out into traffic you bunch of morons.
A pick up truck who's mass is equal to 2,495 kg is being driven by 4x4 who weighs 82 kg. It is traveling down a snow and ice covered road at a constant speed of 10km/h. A woman one car length (8 m away) in the direction of travel steps out of her car into the road. Assuming that it takes 4x4 1 second to react and apply the brakes (assume the tire and road coefficient of friction = 0.06), calculate how long it will take him to come to a complete stop and how far from the woman will he stop.
