Match is starting soon, hopefully this pitch offers something for the bowlers. I'm sick of the tailor-made pitches for batsmen these days. It seems like sub-continent curators are being hired around the world.

Australia: 1 Simon Katich, 2 Shane Watson, 3 Ricky Ponting (capt), 4 Michael Clarke, 5 Michael Hussey, 6 Marcus North, 7 Brad Haddin (wk), 8 Xavier Doherty, 9 Peter Siddle, 10 Ryan Harris, 11 Doug Bollinger.
I'd been reading about Johnson getting dropped for this one but Hillfenheus is a surprise. North still manages to stay in the team, thats just pathetic.
England: 1 Andrew Strauss (capt), 2 Alastair Cook, 3 Jonathan Trott, 4 Kevin Pietersen, 5 Paul Collingwood, 6 Ian Bell, 7 Matt Prior (wk), 8 Stuart Broad, 9 Graeme Swann, 10 James Anderson, 11 Steven Finn.

Aussies off a disaster start. Anderson gets both Katich (run out) and Ponting in the first over. Huge start for English. They need to keep up the pressure but knowing Broad, he will fail and let them off the hook.
Edit, Anderson strikes again in his 2nd over. Clarke's horrible season continues, as he departs for just 2.
Also Ponting bags a golden duck in his 150th test, a sha,e.

Anderon is bowling really well. Almost had Watson LBW. Reviewed it and a good decision by the ump.

Anderson just dropped a caught and bowled.. was tough, just reflex.
This 4th wicket is going to be so important.

The in form batsman for Aussies are there now but nervous times. Watson avoided an LBW. Hussey dropped. Inside edge for Hussey twice just missing. Again Hussey just short of 2nd slip.
Broad of course leaks 10 runs in his over.

Jimmy gets the breakthrough, Watson departs after getting his half century. Brilliant catch by Petersen too. English need to get Hussey and the rest should be easy enough.

Strauss fell due to his own mistake, was a bad leave. Cook and that loser Trott are playing well.
Aussies bowling really sucks now. Could be an overhaul next match too. They'd be lucky to get 10 wickets let alone 20 this match.

Excellent day for the tourists. Australia are really labouring. Barring a complete England batting collapse, they could have a 250-300 run lead by the end of day 3. That will put them in very good position to win test #2. Australia look very average.

551-4, lead of 306. The tricky thing will be when to declare and hope that the diggers are sufficiently shell-shocked to throw their 2nd innings wickets away.

Probably declare a few overs before lunch. Give 5 sessions to win the match.
It's really unreal how feeble the Australian attack has been.

Too bad they lost the evening session to rain. Declaring with a lead of 400 and inviting the diggers to see out the last 10-15 overs would have been interesting.
An innings defeat in a home Ashes test would have that entire nation licking its collective sporting wounds. I'd love to see it.

England declare at the drinks break of the first session of day 4 at 620/5 which gave them a 275 run lead. Aussies off to a quick 60/0 start however. Looks like we might be headed for another draw.

Lead of 375.
Now the lead is around 137.
Clarke big edge into his pads - Cook with the catch. 238-4.
The biggest problem will be the weather.

Looks like another draw. So England escaped the first Test and the Aussies escape this one. Make for a very interesting final 3 Tests.
Perth is next, fast and dry.

^ Most of the pundits think that this is England's test for the taking. Clarke's late dismissal changed things. Now the Oz tail is only 3 wickets away and the new ball is due to enter into service very soon in the morning session. Not many think that they have the batting line-up remaining to see this through. Unlike the Gabba, this wicket is deteriorating and there should be something on offer for the bowlers, especially the spinners (Pietersen, Swann) and Collingwood's cutters.
Odds are on for an England win.
