Thanks for the comments.
Re: thread search, yes was an auto Google search. I don't automatically reply to all comments that I find, but wanted to address the McIver donation issue, as his list was the first to be released with my name on it.
Re: airport tunnel, I'm in favour of the added functionality created by the airport tunnel. I'm not enthralled by the Chabot/Stevenson proposal that will see us spend $20 million in interest over 7 years to do it, when we have over $800 million in reserve funds. I prefer to pay cash over credit. I realize $20 million is only a small fraction of the total budget, but when we're $60 million over-budget for next year already...
re: knowing your stuff, no it's not too much to ask that a candidate be engaged with the long term plans for the neighbourhood. I don't claim to know it all, but I generally know where to find it. Really, that kind of knowledge forms a significant part of my campaign. As I mentioned earlier, there's a lot of small issues to clean up in the ward, and being involved in it at the ground level makes a huge difference when sorting through the nuance of a solution.
re: differences in candidates...I"ll post a blog post about it in the morning on my site, rather than take over this site. It's hard to differentiate even for me, because no one else really communicates outside of the usual platitudes on their websites. I just hear about the differences at the doors, when people say: "this guy said this point..." It's hard to hold anyone accountable to what they are saying. There was a few differences though that came up tonight at one of the ward forums where you could start to see some real lines of definition forming.
Thanks again.
Brent.

Can anyone tell me which candidates live in the ward and which do not?
Also, thanks Brent for posting here. I've been reading each candidates website and also saw the votecalgary responses along with more scattered youtube and other media. I'm not necessarily on board with the votecalgary agenda but the website is helpful since it provides videos of some candidates, and some of those short videos tell a lot.
I have changed my mind several times as to who to vote for. Randy Royer's spammed sign gardens made me decide I would never vote for him, until I dug into some of his ideas an in particular watched some of his videos. I like Brent's campaign, but some of his responses to written questions have me disagreeing with him... but his thoughtful posts in this thread have me re-evaluating. I like Ken Roger's bio and that he has community involvement (like Brent). Pootmans also has merit. After watching some video interviews with Yannitsos, I also thought he was really good even though his website content left me doubtful. I would not vote for: Turner, Sims, Dimic, or Wills, and probably not Malyszko, for various reasons.

Pootmans, Wills and Dimic do not live in the ward. In fairness, Dimic is in the current Ward 6, but with the new ward boundary change, will be in Ward 8.

Someone vandalized one of Richard Pootman's signs on Old Banff Coach Road near the Sobey's. It now has his smiling face beside the words "Hard Poo Man".
Its immature but I lol'd.

I find it wrong that someone who doesn't live in the ward can run in it.
Not saying they don't deserve to have the right to run for alderman, but it defeats the purpose of splitting up wards IMO. Run in the ward you live. Period. I can't find myself being convinced someone who lives in the next ward over really understands what my concerns are when we don't even live in the same ward. You can't lead me!
It is a sticky situation though, since boundaries are always changing.
Another way not to get my vote, is to not have lived here long enough. I'm curious to know how long the candidates have lived in the ward- if they just moved here last year do they really understand the issues? Also, how come we have no home grown talent anymore?

If anyone makes it to the Ward 6 forum Monday evening, could you post a summary here? I'd love to go, but family commitments will prevent me.

I'll second this. I'll be at work and will be unable to attend. Even a point form summary or a link to where I could find one would be much appreciated. TIA.

Yanitsos has a big sign that says that he's lived in the ward for 20 years.

Across the street. I believe the sign is on the lands that Bronconnier owns and is supposed to make billions on w/ the WLRT so close by.
