Bad as the Eskimos are I believe the Lions are even worse. It's been a long time since the West has had two teams this bad at the same time.

How embarrassing to be a fan of Edmonton sports in the last year.

In 2001, when the Stamps won the Cup, they finished with a record of 8-10 and finished second in the West. The Lions were also 8-10 and the Riders were 6-12. Although not as bad as how the Lions and Esks are looking this year, it is odd to have had 3 teams finish under .500.

There's a very good chance we'll see an Eastern team cross over to the West for the first time this year.

Also, as of Friday, it's been a year since any of the Esks, Oilers, or Oil Kings defeated a Calgary team in a regular season game.

I would've been choked if they blacked that game out. That was quite enjoyable.

Welcome to an 8 team league. Thing is that as bad as the Eskimos and Lions have been all they have to do is beat Winnipeg on their H2H games and go on a little streak and they will still get in. As bad as the Eskimos and Lions looked this week, the Bombers also laid a big stinker as well and I'm not ready to say any 2-5 is a lock to make the postseason.

23-2 in calender year 2009:

Flames 7-1 vs. Oilers
Stamps 3-1 vs. Esks
Hitmen 6-0 regular season, 4-0 playoffs vs. Oil Kings
Roughnecks 3-0 vs Rush

Since then, in calender year 2010:
Flames 1-0
Hitmen 2-0
Stamps 2-0 (inc preseason)
Roughnecks 2-2

So, since January 2009, those 4 Calgary sports teams have gone 30-4 against Edmonton teams (.882 winning percentage). Take out the Roughnecks records if you wish, and its 25-2 (or .925 winning percentage).

Hugh Campbell is the original architect of this debacle. He was the GM when they hired lawn gnome, he was the one who installed his useless son as Defensive Coordinator (Esks D has been terrible for 5 years minimum). They wasted the prime of a top 2 QB talent in the league in Ray with terrible signings and just overall.

Lawn gnome was the face of the debacle but it started much earlier and just continued under lawn gnomes leadership.

The simple fact is they got lazy. They are/were the most profitable team and used that to lure over the hill vets here instead of scouting US college ranks for talent.

It seemed many EDM miscues in the 1st quarter had to to with the sun shining right in their eyes. Did anyone else pick up on that? - TSN did not notice this.

One positive for the Esks coming out of the game - Ray was injured. The negative (for them) is that especially with the week off, he'll be back starting the next game.

Most overrated QB - perhaps in the history of the league. Sure, he has an amazing game every now and then, but the 9 games in between he stinks up the joint.
