Guys lie to get sex, we're all rich, former pro athlete fighter pilots just for a night, then we dive out the window without our shoes to avoid the confrontation the next day.

So I see. I think it goes to "harm" - hence, the scientology scenario I presented. There is no inherent harm to the woman whether she had sex with valo or Andrew Ference. However, if the woman is traumatized by the fact that she stepped outside of her religion, I think the deception in that situation could lead to charges IMHO.
There is no harm that can be proven if you turn out to be a janitor, as opposed to an architect, but IF religion is cental to the woman's sense of self, I can see it... Of course, if she is that religious, would she bend over just like that... etc, etc. But I am trying to think of a situation where a lie could lead to "sexual assault".

So in the above case the Twin brother slept with a women who had a casual relationship with the other twin.
He was convicted of sexual assault.
So lying about who you are despite the sex being consentual resulted in a conviction for sexual assault. Now in this case the guy said he gave the women an oppurtunity to ID him and the women said that she called him by the brothers name. If you believe the Women than I would say it is a crime.
So the law is moving toward lying to get sex as being a crime.

To be fair, that may have started as illegal. Theres a whole 'bell curve' phenomenon going on.

They are all still fruit. I think the interesting question is when does lying to get sex become a crime. Here we have a situation in the original which I would say is not a crime and a situation here in canada that I would say is a crime. At what point between these two lies is a crime committed.

You can lie all you want to get sex as long as you're not lying to your best friends blind wife.
As long as you aren't lying about being a person that they already trust like the link you had up then there is no problem.
You could be a NASA engineer or even a mad scientist when looking for a sex partner. Someone that believes a lie like that and puts out right away wasn't looking for a serious relationship anyways.

Pretending to be someone you're not is totally different especially if she was dating the one twin. Lying about religion is like lying about your job IMO.

Indeed. I think the issue is "harm" to the woman in question. Telling a woman you are Andrew Ference does no harm to her, unless she actually has a relationship with Andrew Ference. Umpossible you say , but in this world of the interwebz, say the relationship is electronic and she doesn't know what he looks like in person. Is it a crime then? Mmmm, hmmm?

If she was defined by her religion she would have specifically asked him if he was also a devout Jew and that sex with a non-Jew would cause irreparable damage to her soul.
Since she didn't ask that it is clear she isn't defined by her religion. Dude told her his name. If he lied about being a Rabbi or something then she has a point. Well she would had she not had sex with this guy withing 20mins of meeting him.
If he had courted her and she had been totally misled then fine. Sex isn't enough.

I'm not talking about this incident. I was talking theoretically in response to your point that lying about religion is like lying about a job. Some people take religion very seriously...
