Wow...that's one way to spin it on their part.
Astral (Vibe's owner) has to pay a fee to use the Virgin name. Ultimately that will probably come out of a promotion budget which means less giveaways.
Who really cares what a station is called anyways?

I don't think it's mandated, it's just because they don't want to give the station staff any warning so that they don't bad mouth the station on the air.
If it's a significant format change, there's usually a big house-cleaning, so like you say, it takes a while to hire the new staff and sell the station to new advertisers.

Yeah, I liked that spin too.
I guess they could reduce their local promotions team because they can use the common promos and IDs from the whole network, then use that saving to spend more on prizes and contests. More often than not, money saved is money not spent.

I've listened to the Virgin equivalent in MTL and after a certain hour they just play commercial free club style music and possibly live mixes so it makes it easy at parties for music in a pinch. Not my style of music but good for parties.

I remember my parents listening to him on 960 CFAC a hundred years ago. Quite the same music too I imagine!
I actually like tuning into 1060 once in a while for something different. I can't stand what is passed for country music these days, but I do like the old classics.
