"The Ron and Don Show" on KIRO radio questioned whether a bystander is pictured carrying a gun in the video, and some seattlepi.com readers raised the same question. Police are investigating the video and entire incident, but have not determined a gun was involved, Seattle Police Department spokesman Sgt. Sean Whitcomb said Tuesday night.
Did anyone see a gun?

didn't take long for the accusations of racism came up.

Between 2002 and 2006 more jaywalkers were hit by vehicles on Rainier Avenue South than in any other corridor in the city.
During that period, 61 pedestrians were struck while jaywalking on Rainier Avenue South -- nearly double the number of accidents on Aurora Avenue North, which had the second highest number of jaywalkers hit with 35, according to Seattle Transportation Department records.

Of course they did. It simply cannot happen anymore when a white cop arrests/beats a minority suspect that racism isnt front and center in the whole thing in the following days. There is little doubt that it happens, though the frequence has gone down tremendously, but with every phone a video camera now cops understand they cannot use excessive force. That being said, excessive force and necessary force are being convoluted by the complainents way too often.

This woman got everything she deserved, maybe even less, for being a complete buffoon and interfering with a police officer executing his duties.

Yup, definitely looks like a gun to me.

Wow, the more I see that, the more I realize how well he actually did handle the situation. He had the beginnings of a mini mob on his hands. The pink shirt chick certainly behaved herself well after losing a chicklet or two.

I hope this doesn't turn into any kind of a Rodney King deal when this officer is cleared of any wrongdoings. It's unfortunate the race card must come up time and time again in these situations.

Great work by the officer. Also happy it did not end tragically for him.

Hope ######ed feminists and african-american leaders don't get their way and get a cop that is obviously experienced and has enough skill to handle tough situations fired or penalized.

PS. That sure looks like a gun.

IMO, the easiest way to identify a racist person is by how fast they claim racism themselves.

He could have. But the point a lot of people are making is that the cop showed great restraint to not just slam the chick down on the hood of the car to throw the cuffs on.

Sure it took him a little more time, but despite how much the chick was resisting, the cop still managed to get the cuffs on withouth hurting her.

Dude, I was raised in a family with three sisters, and a don't hit woman rule.

This situation is completely different. They escalated the situation, not the cop. They chose to raise his suspicions by walking away from him and dismissing him when he's trying to serve the law.

They became abusive not him. they showed that they were unwilling to be reasonable not him. They probably throught, a big crowd we can act like moron's but people will side with us because we're girls, and we're black, and everyone hates the police.

Don't put this as a guy beating down a girl. this is a cop, these girls acted criminally, they defied logic by assaulting a cop over what would have probably been a 30 dollar ticket.

My sympathy stops when someone dials thier lever to moron.

The cop could of handled that better. You NEVER under any circumstance hit a woman.

Yeah, that's a stupid rule.
I can think of a any number of situations where it's okay to hit a woman. Do any of those situations involve me escalting a situation where a woman is being reasonable? Of course not, but being a cop and having a woman resist arrest, try to hit you, and possibly grabs at your belt (you know, where your gun is), is right near the top of that list.

I could come up with 101 circumstances where it is acceptable to hit a woman.
