I realize that.

And I'm not complaining about the 'ban'....as much as the people who loved him to start out with, and created the 'hype'...and then suddenly turned against him in the end because he couldn't post rumors that turned out to be true.

I never turned against him. I was pretty 'meh' about him in the first place.

I enjoyed reading and deciphering his posts.
He posted some good info which often got a lot of thanks and usually provoked a lot of good discussion.

A lot of the haters are coming out of the woodwork but I bet the fans of thefanblogger outnumber the haters.

Its no wonder so many people are afraid to start threads here and they just either don't say anything or the walk away. Who wants to deal with the venom that some people spit at you. Make a mistake or say something controversial and it becomes a war.

I miss MainFlame.

I hate the little children he spawned, though.

It suprises me when long timers get banned permanently. Flip is gone?

I found TFB to be extremely annoying. His posts were like an abortion of the english language.
I couldn't imagine getting banned, I just completed my first 2 week sin bin and it was hell.

I think someone should find out what happened to Dion(poster).

He was getting up there in age, and its not like him to suddenly drop off the face of the earth.
He was traded to Toronto Puck and is now worshipped as a saviour.

That was Sureloss that people ripped into for "failing to recognize Dion's unique skating stride"

Flip flipped out all of a sudden. I guess smoking was a very passionate topic for him.

I thought the TFB was an interesting read and it was nice to get his oberservations from the Dome, regardless of how accurate people judged them to be...He was there and they weren't. He also posted rapidly via Blackberry or some other mobile from the Dome and that explains the odd grammar and spelling his posts. I never had any issue with that.

As for thefanblogger, I kind of just took it for what it was really, a bit of extra info I wouldnt have otherwise had.

Sometimes there was some value to it, and other times there wasnt.

I'm of the opinion that you generally take what you get and then derive it's value from there. The one thing I'll say about TFB is that he didnt have an agenda, he was genuinely just relaying information and observations and thats all. He didnt package it well, or organize it in a nice neat fashion, but he also didnt present it to further his own agenda or stick it to Darryl.

The problem with that is that its wide open to the random interpretations of the hundreds of posters on here to come to their own conclusions, and that range is WIDE man, from 'this guy is a crazy ass' to the inevitable 'the sky is falling.'

I'll tell you what was funny... I vaguely remember Lanny being named 'that other board's' Poster of the Year for 2003. And what did Lanny do? He cussed it out and everybody associated with it. God, that's gold. I couldn't stop laughing for three days straight.
Lanny kept people honest and ... as I think Ford Prefect put it one day, was a nuclear deterrent to the poorly thought out post. I recall the first few posts I made were with a bit of fear and trepidation as you always had the though "I hope Lanny doesn't destroy me" in the back of your mind.

He was great at keeping a certain element quiet on the board. Plus I think CP could have an entire wing in the hall of fame dedicated to Lanny.

I really think the secret is to take his posts with a grain of salt. I often read them and went 'meh'...instead of believing everything he said.

But apparently some people on CP couldn't do that so they decided to act like a bunch of 5 year olds and bash him based on his inability to type properly. Apparently that was the cool thing to do.

There's typing properly and then there's making sense. Sometimes I would start reading his posts and my head would hurt from trying to decipher it I'd just move on. There may or may not have been good information contained within but I frequently passed over it.

I wasn't aware he posted everything from his phone. If I knew that I would have suggested he stop that practice and instead write it out while sitting in the stands and then when home, over a beer or a scotch, type it all out. It would have really helped him get his information across. If journalism is something he's interested in professionally then a bit more focus on those details would have really gone a long way bring upon some legitimacy.

Most of mainflame's hate was in the game thread though. I_H8_Crawford just H8s the Flames all over the board.

Did you guys ever think maybe TFB has/had a disability that gave him problems that impeded his grammar , punctuation , spelling or whatever else ya'll bitched about when he posted?

I mean really ? Some of you guys are completely out of touch with reality here and not to mention just downright mean. Dogging on a guy who is just posting because he loves the Flames and hockey? Isnt that why we are all here? Yeah I will agree , his posts were hard to read sometimes. THe dude was doing it because he loved watching and relaying the info. If you hated it that much you could have just saw who wrote the post and skipped right past the thread... kinda like when Eklund is put in the thread title.

Pretty sure they aren't. Mainflame was all about the one liners. I_h8_Crawford is a case of congenitive recurring verbal diarrhea.

There were several posts TFB put up that were totally legible and understandable. If the guy isn't going to put the effort into making sense, then I AM going to put the effort into ridiculing him into making an effort.

There is already enough destruction of the english language that happens in our society. If I know the guy CAN write properly, then I demand he DOES write properly.
